ALift Block,[1] also referred to as anElevator[2] (orelevator),[3] is a type ofblock inSuper Mario Land. It is found only withinHidden Blocks in twolevels,World 1-3 andWorld 3-2. When it is revealed, the player can stand atop the Lift Block and ride it up to the top of the screen, which leads to eithercoins or apipe to a treasure room.
A single elevator appears in theGame Boy comicIn the Palm of Your Hand.... WhileMario,Josh, andRick are fighting againstTatanga's minions in theWorld Trade Center station, Josh realizes that, if Tatanga's engineers reconstructed the station asWorld 1-3 ofSuper Mario Land, it may have everything the level has. He tells Mario to hit the second block to the left of theGao's perch, and Mario, hitting the block, finds an elevator, which he uses to travel to theWindows on the World restaurant on the top of the North Tower of theWorld Trade Center, whereTatanga and his army are.
