Krushas are muscular, blueKremlings and are among the elite soldiers of theKremling Krew. They first appear inDonkey Kong Country. Krushas wear clothing with a camouflage pattern and a silver arm band on each forearm. They also have a spiky yellow mohawk on their heads, three clawed toes, and four fingers. They typically appear alongsideKlumps, other militaristic Kremlings. Like Klumps, Krushas are sometimes referred to as an individual, as is the case in thePlayer's Guide forDonkey Kong Country,the television series, andDonkey Kong 64. Other Kremlings similar to Krushas have appeared in the games, such asKrumples andKasplats.

Krushas are enemies inDonkey Kong Country. Like most other enemies, Krushas walk forward and injureDonkey Kong andDiddy Kong upon contact with them. The muscular build of Krusha allows it to laugh off most of theKongs' direct attacks. Krusha can be defeated from Donkey Kong jumping on it, but not from Diddy.^[3] Other ways to defeat Krushas include the use of abarrel or fromRambi. Being hit by aHand Slap from Donkey Kong can make the Krusha release abanana but not defeat it.

Besides the blue variety, there is a gray variety exclusively inPlatform Perils that wears orange wristbands, a purple camouflage suit, and has orange head spikes. This type is stronger in that they can laugh off even Donkey Kong's jump attacks, leaving barrels as the only method of defeating them. Gray Krushas do not drop any bananas when Hand Slapped. In thefirst remake only, gray Krushas also appear inNecky Nutmare.

In thesecond remake, during the opening cutscene, Diddy fends off some Kritters while guarding thebanana hoard, only to be subdued by Krusha, taking the role of Klump in the original version. Aphotograph of Krusha is also located beside an "O" inPlatform Perils.^[4]

Krushas share their defeat voice clip with Rambi andKing K. Rool in the original version. A higher pitched variation of the voice clip would later be used by various Kremlings inDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest andDonkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, except forKrimps in the latter game, whom use the same voice clip fromDonkey Kong Country. In theGame Boy Advance remake, Krusha shares some of his vocalizations withKasplat.

Thepre-release version had blue Krushas being unfazed by Donkey Kong's jump attacks. In the final game, this trait only applied to the gray Krushas.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest[edit]

While not pointed out in the manual,Krunchas appear to be Krushas in pirate gear inDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. This was later confirmed to be true by character designerSteve Mayles in a Twitter post.^[5] Despite being the same thing, Krunchas appear to be shorter and wider than Krushas, probably stemming from having a different base model.

Donkey Kong Country novel[edit]

Krusha (referred to as "the strongest commander"), depicted as an individual character, is the last antagonist fought by Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong on theGangplank Galleon in theDonkey Kong Country novel. Krusha protects himself from both Kongs' attempted attacks before punching both of them, though is taken out when the Kongs launch themselves from ropes on the ship.

Club Nintendo[edit]

Krusha is seen on the Gangplank Galleon in theClub Nintendo comiccomic adaptation ofDonkey Kong Country, but he has no role.

Donkey Kong Jungle Action Special[edit]

Krusha appears in theDonkey Kong Jungle Action Special comic "Diddy's Day". Part of a Kremling gang sent to get Donkey Kong, Krusha is summoned with the other Kremlings when theRock Kroc surprises Diddy. Krusha charges at Diddy but is taken out when a coconut is thrown by Donkey Kong at his head.

Donkey Kong Land[edit]

Krusha is one of the three types of Kremling enemies inDonkey Kong Land, the other two beingKritters andKlaptraps. Krushas behave identically to the standard blue type inDonkey Kong Country.

Donkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle[edit]

Krusha is encountered by Donkey Kong on the eighth floor of theKremling's factory withinBig Ape City inDonkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle. Krusha says that he will bring him straight toKing K. Rool, the leader of the Kremlings. Krusha is described as "the biggest and strongest of all the Kremlings," although not the "brightest." Krusha is fooled by Donkey Kong into believing that the latter has the locations of everyKong onDonkey Kong Island. Distracted, Krusha reaches into Donkey Kong's backpack, but Donkey Kong throws abarrel at Krusha instead, causing the latter to fall over. Krusha is defeated from both abarrel roll and adouble jump before Donkey Kong continues his journey.

Donkey Kong Country television series[edit]

In theDonkey Kong Country animated series, Krusha (voiced byLen Carlson) is one of the main characters and antagonists on theDonkey Kong Country television series. On the show Krusha isKing K. Rool's bodyguard and a high-ranking member. Krusha is shown to be unintelligent, having a hard time grasping simple concepts and becoming distracted. His intelligence is due to his dislodged brain, as seen in "From Zero to Hero", due to the fact that it fell out his skull and has been sitting inside his pelvis ever since. He likes watching "Sing Along With Uncle Swampy Show", a show meant for young children. Krusha appears regularly with K. Rool's second-in-command,General Klump, and tend to work together. Krusha occasionally causes trouble for K. Rool and hiscrew due to his intelligence. Krusha is shown as much more intelligent in the episodes "Bad Hair Day" and "It's a Wonderful Life", the former of which is the pilot episode for the series, and the latter of which is set in Donkey Kong's dream where he imagines he never existed in Kongo Bongo. Krusha also has the ability to replicate voices of others, such as K. Rool and Donkey Kong, as shown in the episode "Kong for a Day".

In the episode "Speed", Krusha is run over with aMine Cart, causing him to gain above average intelligence. Krusha comes up with a plan to destroyKongo Bongo and then claim theCrystal Coconut for himself, managing to force K. Rool into submission. Despite K. Rool giving in to Krusha and letting him lead, Krusha considers him disposable, only intending to save him upon Klump's request. However, by the end of the episode, Krusha gets run over again, acting like how he was in previous episodes.

In the episode "Klump's Lumps", General Klump is fired, after which Krusha is promoted toGeneral Krusha.

Donkey Kong 64[edit]

While no Krushas appear in the main story ofDonkey Kong 64 as enemies, one can be unlocked for play in multiplayer battles by collecting fifteenBanana Fairies in the main mode.^[6] Krusha has a unique fast sliding attack and anorange grenade launcher as his own weapon. Krusha appears blue by default, but he also has threepalette swaps of yellow, green, and purple. Krusha uses higher pitched voice clips of King K. Rool. The similar enemy Kasplat is mistakenly called Krusha in thePrima guide toDonkey Kong 64.^{[page number needed]}

By glitching or hacking the game, it is possible to play as Krusha in the main adventure.^[7] The text string of Krusha's name is still used by the characters, but with no different dialogue than when talking to the Kongs. Krusha also has some unused animations, some of which are taken from Chunky's.
