Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner
Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner is amacaroni and cheese product fromKraft Foods consisting of dry macaroni and powdered cheese. In the 1990s, there have been a few promotional tie-ins involving theSuper Mario franchise. The first tie-in, which occurred some time in 1990, was centered around the firstSuper Mario Bros., and its box specified it as pasta and cheese. The second tie-in, which occurred around 1993 and 1994, involved the greaterSuper Mario series, most particularlySuper Mario World. Despite this, it was titledSuper Mario Bros. Macaroni & Cheese Dinner in advertisements and retained theSuper Mario Bros. title on the box. The front box of the second tie-in product had artwork ofCape Mario, a form that originated inSuper Mario World.
Both Kraft tie-in products had gameplay advice branded as "power tips." The first tie-in product had these in the form of a collectible cut-out card on the back of the box, which had only one of 20 different types of power tip cards. The second tie-in product had the entire back of the box dedicated to a numbered power tip. Power Tip #2 was dedicated to secret areas in theSpace Zone inSuper Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, and it was illustrated by a few custom-made graphics.
The first tie-in product had six different shapes:Mario,Magic Mushroom,Starman,Pirana Plant,[sic]Bowser, andPrincess Toadstool. The second tie-in product retained the same shapes but added inYoshi as a seventh shape. The spelling for "Piranha Plant" was also fixed on the box.
