Kleptoads[1] areenemies inSuper Mario Galaxy 2 and itsNintendo Switchport. These bluefrog-like creatures are only encountered inHightail Falls Galaxy during the hidden mission "Silver Stars in Hightail Falls". They can be found carrying eithercoins orSilver Stars above their heads, which they try to keep away from the player by running away from them.
Kleptoads can be temporarily defeated with ajump, aspin, or by havingYoshi eat them, though they will reappear out of the ground after a few seconds. They can also be forced to drop their item with aStar Bit. When a Kleptoad does not have an item, or has reappeared after having been defeated, it simply hops forwards in a straight line while occasionally changing directions. If a Kleptoad without an item comes across one, such as an item dropped by a different Kleptoad, it will attempt to run up and grab the item before the player can collect it.
In the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack inMinecraft, frogs are retextured to look like Kleptoads andtadpoles are retextured to look like larval versions of Kleptoads.

Naming[edit]
