King Bowser's Keep is an unlockable board that appears inSuper Mario Party Jamboree. It is unlocked after reaching Platinum Player Rank (Level 30) or completing the Party-Planner Trek and viewing the credits. It takes place above a giant castle surrounded by lava.

The board revolves around a square-shaped loop in the center called the Bowser Byway. The direction of travel on this loop can be reversed, forcing players to go back and forth should they be unable to reach an exit before the next reversal.Impostor Bowser stands in the middle of the Bowser Byway, and every three turns he will blow fireballs onto two of its spaces, turning them intoBowser Spaces. Players who land on such Bowser Spaces are simply picked up by Impostor Bowser instead of being transported to the "Bowser event room". In addition, Impostor Bowser may forego the roulette and simply declare that his victim lose a Star (or, should they have no Stars, all of their coins; if they have no coins, either, Bowser simply kicks them out).

Events[edit]

Mechanics[edit]

  • Impostor Bowser's turn: When it is his turn, Impostor Bowser spits out fireballs onto two random spaces on the Bowser Byway and turn them intoBowser Spaces. Imposter Bowser's turn happens at the start of every third turn. At the start of turn 24, Impostor Bowser announces that he will add one final Bowser Space, and will stop adding new Bowser Spaces after this turn. The only spaces in the Bowser Byway that will never be replaced are the Blue Spaces that are possible Star Spaces and the Event Spaces that change the direction of the Bowser Byway.

Event Spaces[edit]

  • Direction reversed: Landing on any of the Event Spaces on the Bowser Byway will cause Impostor Bowser to reverse direction of travel for the Bowser Byway. The same effect can also be achieved by using aBowser Byway Lever; however, Impostor Bowser will not change the direction himself and will instead look confused as the direction changes.
  • Red pipe: Landing on an Event Space near the red pipe makes a Bob-omb chase the player, forcing the player to jump into the red pipe. The player is then transported to a Red Space near the Bowser Byway. This does not take away any coins from the player, but the player would not receive bonus coins for meetingDry Bones.
  • Launch Bullet Bills!: Landing on either of the two Event Spaces close to theBill Blasters activates them both, taking away 5 coins (or 10 coins if the player has a Jamboree Buddy) from any player they hit.

Passing Spaces[edit]

  • Green pipe: Going into anygreen pipe brings the player back to the start, and Dry Bones will give them 10 coins (20 coins if they have a Jamboree Buddy).
  • Gear shift: When passing through a gear on Bowser Byway, the player receives the contents on the current side of the gear, which could be 3-10 coins or a Bob-omb, which takes away 5 coins. The gear is rotated clockwise after every visit, and is reset after all contents of the gear have been claimed. If the player has a Jamboree Buddy with them, they also receive the contents of the next clockwise side of the gear.
  • VS Mechakoopa: At two different spots on the board, if passing through, the player has to fight aMechakoopa, dealing damage to it according to what is rolled on a Dice Block (separate from board rolling). A small Mechakoopa is located on one corner of the Bowser Byway, which has 3 hitpoints and awards 6 coins for destroying it or takes away 3 coins if it survives. A larger Mechakoopa is located on the far end of the board, which has 7 hitpoints and awards 15 coins for destroying it or takes away 5 coins if it survives. If the Mechakoopa is defeated, another one appears in its place with full health. If not, its health stays the same for the next player that visits it. The player gets an extra roll if they have a Jamboree Buddy.
  • Bowser's giant vault: Each time the player passes through it, they have one attempt to enter a two-digit passcode (two attempts if they have a Jamboree Buddy with them), both digits being from 1 to 9, to open it and receive all Stars and coins that Bowser has stolen fromBowser Space events. If one digit is guessed correctly but not the other, it will turn red and remain selected. Any incorrect digits guessed will be eliminated until the vault is opened, gradually increasing the odds to guess correctly. The vault has 10 coins at the beginning and is refilled with 10 coins after a player successfully opens the vault and claims its contents. The chance of getting it correct on the first try is 1 in 81.

Notes[edit]

  • The European English website erroneously stated that this board can be unlocked by reaching Diamond Player Rank. The error has since been corrected.[10]
  • When landing on a Bowser Space, the "Lose 1 Star" option will sometimes be shown on the Bowser Roulette during the first half of a game. This does not happen with any other boards in the game.
