Kid is a young golfer in theMario Golf titles. He first appears in theGame Boy Color version ofMario Golf.

Kid made his first appearance in the Game Boy ColorMario Golf as one of the four characters players could choose from the beginning. In this game, his appearance is that of a young boy with kinky brown hair, prominent lips, and blue eyes. He wears a white-collared black polo shirt, blue shorts, and a white glove on his left hand. His socks are white and his shoes are copper orange with white stripes. Over his hair, he wears a red baseball cap flipped backwards. His bio on the official JapaneseMario Golf website states he began playing golf since the age of three and had already become a golfing prodigy by age ten.^[2] With theTransfer Pak, Kid can be transferred over to theNintendo 64 version ofMario Golf.

Mobile Golf[edit]

InMobile Golf, Kid was featured as an unlockable character. He can be unlocked after completing all Go-Go Gates.

Mario Golf: Advance Tour[edit]

Kid returns inMario Golf: Advance Tour, with an older and updated appearance. It is established that Kid had become the Grand Champion in the last game. However, he was injured badly due to excessive training caused by strain of the muscles and joints to the point where he could not even grasp a golf club. It was said he could no longer golf and lost his title to the former champion,Gene. After a five year recovery, Kid became an avid golf trainer toNeil,Ella,Buzz andHelen, untilBud influenced him to pick up the club again when he signed them up in Marion. He ascended the ranks quickly and took back the championship.

Kid lead the title over theLinks Tourney. He has also formed a doubles team with Gene to advance up the doubles (more likely for the benefit of Gene gaining another title). He aims to always keep his composure, and tries to be fair to his friends and foes alike. He encourages his students to keep going strong, no matter what and is a very respected golfer among peers.

For this game, his appearance has grown older, taller, and his features have matured. He wears an indigo-collared maroon polo shirt, a black belt, and white pants. His golfing shoes are black and indigo, and he still wears a white golfing glove. He now wears an indigo baseball cap forward, with a red square in the center.

• The voice lines for Kid performed byPenn Badgley were later reused forAlex (in both theGame Boy Color version and theNintendo 64 version ofMario Tennis), andChris inMario Tennis: Power Tour.
• Kid’s appearance was altered slightly in theNintendo 64 - Nintendo Classics re-release ofMario Golf: his prominent lips were replaced with a thin smile.^[4] The change was most likely made due to large lips being a negative stereotype associated with black people.
