Kalypso is a femaleKremling who makes her first and only physical appearance inDonkey Kong: Barrel Blast, where she is an unlockable character. Kalypso has pale blue-green skin, red eyes, a purple top with a skull on it, purple claw polish, blue jeans with a white belt, and golden jewelry around her neck, left wrist and tail. Kalypso has a large purple afro, and she is only one of three Kremlings to have hair, the other two being Kass andKasplat. Kalypso is about the same height as Tiny. Kalypso's name is derived from "calypso," a style of lively Caribbean folk music.

Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast[edit]
InDonkey Kong: Barrel Blast, Kalypso joins the Kremlings in a racing competition against theKongs. She is an unlockable character and is unlocked by winning theSapphire Cup with a Kremling. She appears in the game as a rival forTiny Kong; as such they share stats and have similar body compositions. Kalypso slashes with her claws as her attack. Her bongos are designed to represent her purple palette and golden jewelry. She has top boost and good speed, but below-average agility similar to Tiny.
Aside from the main game, Kalypso also appears in various cutscenes. In the Single Racing cutscene, Kalypso can be seen, alongside Kass,Kritter andKlump, in front of their rivals, Tiny Kong,Dixie Kong,Donkey Kong andLanky Kong. In the Time Trial cutscene, she can be seen along withKopter andDiddy Kong as part of the public giving indications to Kass and Lanky Kong of which lap they are on by showing them a sign. She makes another appearance inCandy's Challenge #14: Help Tiny Kong!, where Donkey Kong has to help Tiny Kong beat Kalypso in a race.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]
Kalypso also appears inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl as asticker and atrophy, both of which can be obtained in single-player modes at random. The Kalypso sticker can be applied to any fighter, and doing so boosts their launch power by 26 points inThe Subspace Emissary. Kalypso's Japanese trophy description, also translated for European and Korean localizations, mentions that she owns a clubhouse, is talented at sports and dancing, and a good leader. In American releases, Kalypso's trophy description is written to instead focus on her performance inDonkey Kong: Barrel Blast rather than details about herself.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
Kalypso reappears inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate as a Novice-class supportspirit. When used on a fighter, it takes up one support slot and equips them with aRocket Belt at the start of a battle. InWorld of Light, the spirit is located in a small forested area at the southwest of the Light Realm. In its corresponding battle, the player has to win against a team of fourWendys on theKongo Falls stage. The core obtained from Kalypso's spirit can be combined with Don Flamenco's core to summonJimmy T's spirit.
