Jeans de Fillet[1] are skeletalCheep Cheeps (albeit slightly larger than them) that live in both water andlava. They only appear in theYoshi's Island subseries, debuting inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and returning in its remakeYoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 and inYoshi's New Island.
Jeans de Fillet stick their heads out of the water or lava, thenjump out, knockingYoshi away if they touch him. Yoshi cannot eat them, but they can be defeated with anegg or another object thrown at them.
Jeans de Fillet are seldomly encountered inlevels. InSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Jeans de Fillet appear in two levels:The Impossible? Maze andTap-Tap The Red Nose's Fort. InYoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, they additionally appear in theEndless World of Yoshis stage.Yoshi's New Island features a Jean de Fillet boss,Furious Fred de Fillet, fought inFurious Fred de Fillet's Castle, where Jeans de Fillet are also encountered.

- Shogakukan guide: 同じところを行ったり来たりしながら飛びはねる。タマゴで倒せる。[2] (It jumps back and forth in the same place. It can be defeated with an egg.)
- Player's Guide:Jean adapted himself to a life in lava lakes by going on a serious diet.[1]
- Shogakukan guide (Game Boy Advance version): 同じ所を行き来しながら飛びはねる。タマゴを当てて倒そう。[3] (It jumps back and forth in the same place. Hit it with an egg and defeat it.)
Yoshi's New Island[edit]
- Shogakukan guide: ホネだけになったプクプク。溶岩から山なりの軌道で飛び出してくる。タマゴを当てると倒せるが、避けて進むほうが楽。プクプク(あか)と異なり、食べられない。[4] (A Cheep Cheep that is now only a skeleton. They pop out from the lava in a hill-like trajectory. You can defeat them by hitting them with an egg, but it is easier to avoid them. Unlike Cheep Cheep (red), they cannot be eaten.)

Jeans de Fillet's name comes from "fillet", a boneless cut of meat (usually fish). Their English name possibly references the 1986 French period dramaJean de Florette.
