Ice watermelons, also referred to asblue watermelons[1][2] (orBlue Watermelons), areitems inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island (andits reissue) andYoshi's New Island. If aYoshi eats one of these frozen bluewatermelons, he will be able to blow three blasts of ice in the original game and five inYoshi's New Island. The ice can freezeenemies solid, and they can then be smashed to pieces. InYoshi's New Island andYoshi's Woolly World, enemies that are frozen slide along the ground when touched by a Yoshi.
A Special Item called theSuper Blue Watermelon also appears in the game. TheAll-you-can-eat ice watermelon!Power Badge is available inYoshi's Woolly World. Using them automatically places an ice watermelon in the air suspended by a propeller, allowing a Yoshi to have its ability at nearly any point, as new ice watermelons appear following him. InYoshi's Island, using a Super Blue Watermelon allows a Yoshi to spit ice nine times instead of the usual three.
InNintendo Puzzle Collection, ice, fire, and regular Watermelons cascade down the screen when a stage of Round 9 is cleared in the Action Mode ofYoshi no Cookie.
