The move Hyper Rocketbarrel being used in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Hyper Rocketbarrel, also written asHyper Rocket Barrel[1][2], isDiddy Kong'sFinal Smash inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, replacingRocketbarrel Barrage from previous games. It has Diddy Kong use theRocketbarel Pack to fly around at an extremely high speed and repeatedly tackle opponents, then ram one computer determined opponent to create an explosion. From the start of Hyper Rocketbarrel to the final hit of the attack, the background turns into an orange vortex.

When Hyper Rocketbarrel is used, Diddy Kong activates a silver version of his Rocketbarrel Pack, and rockets up and off the screen at high speed. The liftoff is afire attack due to the exhaust. Then Diddy zooms across the screen multiple times with different starting points, ending points, and angles, though he is always moving in straight lines. Sometimes, the line Diddy flies in is selected to match the current position of an opponent. Contact with Diddy Kong is also a fire attack. Diddy Kong ignores the terrain of the stage while doing this. He leaves white contrails as he flies. Diddy Kong moves so quickly that there is more than one instance of Diddy Kong at a time during this portion of the attack; the game's Move List says that Diddy "multiplies himself" during Hyper Rocketbarrel. For this portion of the attack, the camera zooms out to a specific width meant to frame the entire stage in order to accommodate the attack's movement. On the extra large Training stage, the camera still zooms out but is unable to encompass the entire stage, leaving the far left and far right portions of the stage off of the screen and thus preventing Diddy from appearing there or dashing there.

After a certain period of time, Diddy Kong slowly drops in from the center of the top the screen, and comes to a stop at the center of the stage. The camera briefly switches to a close up view of him. Diddy Kong locks onto a fighter by turning so that the thrusters of the Rocketbarrel Pack point away from the fighter in question. Diddy Kong picks the fighter that has taken the most damage from Hyper Rocketbarrel if that is an option. A green targeting reticle appears over this opponent. Diddy rushes in a straight line at that opponent's current location, causing an explosion with high launch power upon contact with the first fighter he hits but continuing to fly off the screen afterward. It is possible for this final attack to miss, usually because the opponent is invincible. The explosion does not occur on contact with the stage. This dash also has a white contrail. Time slows down as Diddy Kong locks onto an opponent and performs the final charge, returning to normal only after contact with an opponent or by missing the opponents.

After the final hit, Diddy Kong's Rocketbarrel Pack lowers him from the point of the top of the screen matching the horizontal position of where Hyper Rocketbarrel down to where Hyper Rocketbarrel started in a straight line, then explodes to lightly propel Diddy Kong upward. This explosion propels him upward even if Hyper Rocketbarrel is used on the ground. This explosion is also a fire attack, but the thrust of the Rocketbarrel Pack is not. As this phase is after the attack's final hit, the background returns to normal as this phase begins.

On the game's website, the Super Smash Blog post for Diddy Kong erroneously states that he uses hispopguns during the Final Smash.[3]

Profiles[edit]

  • Super Smash Bros Ultimate Move List: Diddy Kong multiplies himself and flies around the stage. He sometimes targets an opponent and charges at them. At the end of the attack, Diddy Kong charges at the opponent he damaged the most to launch them.
  • Super Smash Bros Ultimate Tip: Diddy Kong flies around the screen in all directions using the latest Rocketbarrel technology. For the final hit, it'll target the opponent who was hit the most, but it'll catch nearby fighters as well.
