Hot Lips[1] arelava-dwelling creatures appearing only in theYoshi's Island series. Hot Lips have a similar appearance toGargantua Blarggs but are much smaller and completely stationary.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island /Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3[edit]
Hot Lips first appear inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and return in itsGame Boy Advance version. A Hot Lips is permanently stationed in one place within the lava, and to attack, a Hot Lips peeks out of its basin and spews a stream of lava in the direction ofYoshi andBaby Mario, similarly to theSpray Fish's water-spraying attack. If the Yoshi is hit with the lava stream, it instantly loses a life. Hot Lips can only be defeated with aPOW Block, as many other attacks are completely ineffective andeggs only temporarily stun them.
Due to a glitch, if Yoshi dies by falling into lava and hits the Hot Lips' lava stream while in the process of the death animation, he will restart his death animation with the spinning-and-collapsing animation. This still counts as only one death.[2]
Yoshi's Island DS[edit]
Hot Lips later appear inYoshi's Island DS. They still attack by spraying lava at Yoshi, and if Yoshi touches the spray, he loses a life. They appear in levels such asYikes! Boiling Hot!,Six-Face Sal's Fort, andFind the Number Ball!.
Yoshi's New Island[edit]
Hot Lips reappear inYoshi's New Island in the levelGargantua Blargg Attacks! Their lava streams no longer defeat Yoshi on the spot. Instead, they cause him to drop Baby Mario as most other enemy attacks.

- Shogakukan guide: 溶岩を吐き出すテッポウオ。夕マゴを当てれば、しばらくおとなしくなる。[3](ASpray Fish that spits out lava. If you hit it with an egg, it will be quiet for a while.)
Yoshi's New Island[edit]
- Shogakukan guide: 溶岩から顔を出して、水鉄砲のように溶岩を放ってくる。てっぽ一うおとは異なり、この溶岩に触れるとダメージを受けるので注意しよう。倒すことはできない。[4](It will emerge from the lava and shoot lava like a water cannon. Unlike Spray Fish, you will be damaged if you touch this lava. It cannot be defeated.)
