Hippopos are enemies inSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that look like big blue hippopotamuses with large ears (also somewhat resembling beetle wings) and a small blue warrior mounted on them. They appear in theWeapon World. Hippopos can accompanyGlum Reapers,Ameboids,High Boos, andNinjas in battle, appearing in all parts of the world before thefactory hall toSmithy. They can also fly, making them capable of using aerial attacks. Hippopos are also able to using various magic attacks, such asPainspout,Solidify orSand Storm.

Among theunused enemies ofSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, there is one namedCrippo, which is a Hippopo lookalike. It has twice as much health as Hippopo. The only noticeable difference is Crippo's brown and green color and the movesThornet which could lead the monster to attack itself andDoom Reverb. It is also possible that Crippo's name is a portmanteau of "cripple", referring to them attacking themselves, and "hippo". The unused enemy has nothought.
