Hidden Coins[1] (also known asDash Coins)[2] areitems in theSuper Mario series. Thesecoins are somewhat rare, and they appear in only a fewlevels. They first appear as outlines of coins, but if a character passes through the outlines, Hidden Coins will then turn into regular coins about a second later.

Yoshi's Island series[edit]
Hidden Coins appear in theYoshi's Island series as items. They first appear inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island andits reissue in general, functioning as the coin equivalent ofDotted Line Blocks and appearing temporarily when aswitch is pressed and changing back when it wears off. Hidden Coins also appear inYoshi's New Island, where they behave like inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii.
Super Mario series[edit]
New Super Mario Bros.[edit]
Hidden Coins appear inNew Super Mario Bros. with a new behavior. The coins appear with a quieter sound effect once passed through.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
Hidden Coins appear inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii and act the same as inNew Super Mario Bros. Hidden Coins also appear more often inCoin Battle levels.
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
Hidden Coins also appear inNew Super Mario Bros. 2, acting the same as in previous games.
New Super Mario Bros. U /New Super Luigi U /New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
Hidden Coins return inNew Super Mario Bros. U,New Super Luigi U, andNew Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, behaving the same as in the previous games.
Super Mario 3D World /Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]

InSuper Mario 3D World andSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Hidden Coins are transparent, and they can be briefly revealed by aGround Pound, or by touching the screen or blowing into theWii U GamePad's microphone, likeHidden Blocks. Hidden Coins are sometimes found on top of? Blocks, where they are collected when the player hits the ? Blocks.
Super Mario Run[edit]
InSuper Mario Run, Hidden Coins make their first appearance inGhost-Door Deception. They appear more commonly than inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii. Touching one can reveal a regular coin, aColor coin, or aBonus Medal, depending on the course and mode. In the latter two cases, a jingle plays as an additional indicator. Given the auto-running nature ofSuper Mario Run, Hidden Coins appear in places where the player can theoretically backtrack to obtain them without abubble, such as in the horizontally wrappedGhost House courses or alongsideBackflip Blocks.Invincible characters reveal Hidden Coins just by being near them, and then obtain the coin or Bonus Medal with the magnetization effect.
Super Mario Odyssey[edit]
InSuper Mario Odyssey, Hidden Coins return, working as they do inSuper Mario 3D World. They are often placed in areas that are hard to get to without using theCap Throw. However, they can be seen if aMoe-Eye iscaptured.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder[edit]
Hidden coins return inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, acting the same as in previous games. Some can also be found as flowers.
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]
Hidden Coins also appear inCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker andits ports, where they behave like inSuper Mario 3D World.
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope[edit]
Hidden Coins make an appearance inMario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. These coins are invisible until the player usesBeep-0'sScan Power in certain areas to make them appear.
