TheHalf Life Malt Shop is a restaurant appearing inThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Elvin Lives," serving asKool Koopa's hideout. Its name refers to thetime it takes for a concentration of substance to decrease to half of its initial value.
Prior to the events of the episode,Kool Koopa kidnappedElvin Parsley from his mansion,Parsley Land, and took him to his hideout, locking him in the freezer room, causing him to become frozen. WhenMario and his friends arrive at Elvin's mansion and free his blue suede shoes from a closet, they inform them of his kidnapping and lead them to the malt shop.
To enter the malt shop, Mario,Luigi, andToad pose as musicians, entertaining thegreaser Goombas with their music whilePrincess Toadstool and Elvin's blue suede shoes look for Elvin Parsley. When they find him in the freezer room, Princess Toadstool prepares to put the shoes back on Elvin's feet to bring him back to life, only to be confronted by Kool Koopa, who immediately captures her. As Mario, Luigi, and Toad continue to play, Toad wonders where the Princess, only to be grabbed by Kool Koopa, who mentions that he captured her. Mario throws a cup at the host Goomba, resulting in the other greaser Goombas throwing their food at it and Kool Koopa. When Kool Koopa becomes angry when they starting throwing food at him, he throws Toad to the floor, allowing him, Mario, Luigi, and Elvin's blue suede shoes to escape. Soon after, Kool Koopa leaves the malt shop with the Princess in tow.
The Half Life Malt Shop reappears at the end of the episode after Mario and his friends defeat Kool Koopa. Princess Toadstool puts Elvin's blue suede shoes on his feet, resulting in the ice on him melting and bring him back to life. Mario and Luigi tellSock Hop Land's inhabitants that he has returned, resulting in them running to malt shop to see him perform.
