- “Ahoy there,Mario! I'm your friendly neighborhood Guide Toad!”
- —Guide Toad,Paper Mario: Color Splash
TheGuide Toad is a character inPaper Mario: Color Splash. He is a cheerful greenToad holding a green flag and a green book. He appears immediately afterMario has unlockedRuddy Road and returned toPort Prisma, at which point he is already situated just outside the exit tunnel. The first time Mario speaks to the Guide Toad, he tells him about accessing a map of Port Prisma via the manual. He then claims he is good with directions, inquiring if Mario would like to know more about a specific district.
Mario may ask about the red district, blue district, yellow district, or none of the above. When inquired, the Guide Toad gives Mario a brief rundown of the chosen district, mentioning the most important locations in each one.
One ofHuey's hints mentions a Toad holding a flag near the town entrance in the red district, suggesting they talk to him for help with navigation. This of course refers to the Guide Toad.
Guide Toad has variousunused recolors within the data ofPaper Mario: Color Splash. Although he does not return inPaper Mario: The Origami King, unused redrawn versions of his sprites can be found among other graphics of characters exclusive to Port Prisma, including recolors and back sprites.
