Grim Leechers are enemies inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, its Game Boy Advance remake, andYoshi's New Island. They are purple ghosts with skulls on their faces; their shape in their artwork and model faintly resembles that of aShy Guy orToady.

Grim Leechers wait untilYoshi comes near and then hover towards them; if a Grim Leecher makes contact, they knockBaby Mario off Yoshi's back and hop on. This causes the game controls to reverse, signified by Yoshi turning a flashing pink color. Yoshi mustGround Pound to knock a Grim Leecher loose, and can eat them to produce an egg. InYoshi's New Island, Grim Leechers cannot be eaten, and the Yoshi controlled by a Grim Leecher is now colored purple. Grim Leechers cannot bestomped on orground pounded.

InSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Grim Leechers appear only inThe Impossible? Maze, as well asMystery of the Castle? in the remake. InYoshi's New Island, Grim Leechers appear inBeware the Boo Brigade.

A Grim Leecher makes an appearance inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate as aspirit.
