Gray Coins,[1][2] also described assilver coins,[3] arecoins that appear inSuper Mario World. Pressing aGray P Switch turns some types of enemies into Gray Coins for a limited time.Lakitus do not turn into Gray Coins, but theirSpiny Eggs do. Gray Coins work differently from standard coins in this game; if enough are collected, they giveextra lives, similar tojumping on numerous enemies in succession. In certainlevels, a trick involving hordes of enemies and a Gray P Switch can be executed to earn dozens of extra lives. The switch can also be renewed througha glitch involvingYoshi. This goes in order with collecting Gray Coins:
- 400points – 1 Gray Coin
- 800 points – 2 Gray Coins
- 1,000 points – 3 Gray Coins
- 2,000 points – 4 Gray Coins
- 4,000 points – 5 Gray Coins
- 8,000 points – 6 Gray Coins
- 1UP – 7 Gray Coins
- 2UP – 8 Gray Coins
- 3UP – 9 Gray Coins or more
Gray Coins appear inMario Golf: Toadstool Tour in the Coin Shoot mode. They are worth 40 coins when the ball is close to them.
