Gravitational Pull (move)
- "Catch & Release" redirects here. For themicrogame inWarioWare: Move It!, seeCatch and Release.
Gravitational Pull isRosalina's down special move inSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS /Wii U andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. The move is based off thespin move fromSuper Mario Galaxy andSuper Mario Galaxy 2. TheStar Pointer from theSuper Mario Galaxy games also appear. The move itself does not cause any damage, but it has several properties. First, it draws in any items close to Rosalina, enabling her to use them more conveniently. Gravitational Pull also protects Rosalina from most projectiles and thrown items; if an item is thrown at Rosalina, its effects will be disabled by the move; all other projectiles vanish. Gravitational Pull also draws in any loose Lumas, but it does not stop explosives (such asBob-ombs) from self-destructing. InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, Gravitational Pull can not only pull items, but also equip items.
As with all special moves inSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS /Wii U, Gravitational Pull has two counterparts that can be used instead once they are unlocked:
Catch & Release enables Rosalina to draw in fighters and damage them, but it does not protect her from items and projectile attacks.
Guardian Luma enlarges Luma, which not only protects Rosalina for some time, but it can also damage any opponents who come into contact with it. The move can also attract items, but with a shorter range.
