Gossips,Mario & Luigi: Brothership

Thegossips[1] are a trio of characters inMario & Luigi: Brothership. Found onShipshape Island, these women (one blue, one pink, and one yellow) are always gossiping with each other, as their name implies. They often discuss matters relating toside quests, giving the player hints on how to complete them. In addition, their conversations reveal more about their own lives, such as how all three gossips are married and have children.

The pink gossip's husband is involved in the side questAn Invitation to the Spa. AfterConcordia split apart, he was unable to go to his job in the city, leading the pink gossip to have him find a job onRaynforst Island instead.

All three gossips are captured byReclusa's flowers once he takes over Concordia. After Reclusa is defeated, the gossips can each be spoken to individually and acknowledge Mario and Luigi saving Concordia.

In the credits, the gossips can be found navigating the maze onMerrygo Island.

Non-side quest quotes[edit]

If there are no active side quests, the gossips have unique dialogue for each sea.

Lushgreen Sea[edit]

  • Yellow gossip: "We're steadily getting more and more islands connected."
  • Pink gossip: "There should still be plenty of islands in other seas."
  • Blue gossip: "Adventure awaits!"

Color-Full Sea[edit]

  • Yellow gossip: "A new sea full of big, new dreams! We might even be able to visit my relatives."
  • Pink gossip: "We can even visit places that do scrumptious cakes!"
  • Blue gossip: "So many dreams. So many yummy foods to sample."

Brrrning Sea[edit]

  • Yellow gossip: "We'll get to sample different climates in this next sea, right?"
  • Pink gossip: "No matter how cold it gets, I'm ready for anything!"
  • Blue gossip: "Hot gossip always warms us up!"

Gulchrock Sea / Stormstar Sea[edit]

  • Yellow gossip: "Don't you think the sky's getting a bit threatening?"
  • Pink gossip: "You might be right... Do you think there's anything we can do about it?"
  • Blue gossip: "We'll use our best skill. In times like these, we spin up the ol' rumor mill!"

Reclusa World[edit]

Due to the gossips being caught in flowers, they do not have dialogue for active side quests.

  • Yellow gossip: "Hee-hee-hee... I always wanted to go somewhere like this. Ahhh...time to kick back in my very own paradise!"
  • Pink gossip: "My, aren't you a cutie! Come a little closer... Hee-hee-hee...don't worry. I don't bite, I promise!"
  • Blue gossip: "At last, I can take it easy all day long. This is the life! Hee-hee... In fact, why would I ever move from this spot?"

Epilogue[edit]

The gossips each have their own dialogue and speak directly to Mario and Luigi if spoken to.

  • Yellow gossip: "I'm sure we'll have a lot to chat about next time we meet too! Ohohohoho!"
  • Pink gossip: "Oh my! I was so focused on chatting, I didn't notice that the world had gone all peaceful!"
  • Blue gossip: "Thanks to you, I never ran out of things to talk about!"
