- —Gorumbla,Mario & Luigi: Brothership
Gorumbla is a boss fromMario & Luigi: Brothership who resides onRumbla Island. Accompanied byGuardarms, Gorumbla has a hobby of destroying the islanders' artwork. He is a strong and sturdy monster who bears a purple-yellow color scheme, has rocky, conjoined eyebrows, sports two stony collars on both of his arms, and wears a hoodie, notably filled with various stones shaped like outlets. His name may be a combination of "gorilla" and "rumble". Mario and Luigi get wind of the creature when ChiefWillma explains that the Guardarms have become more destructive. With that information, the Bros. confront Gorumbla and face off against him. Unlike a majority of the bosses in the game, Gorumbla has no known association withZokket and theZok Troops.
In combat, Gorumbla uses his arms as shields, much like the Guardarms. To deal damage, Mario and Luigi have to attack the boss from an exposed direction. One of Gorumbla's primary attacks involves him pummeling the ground with his bare hands which, in turn, creates shockwaves forMario andLuigi to dodge.[1] He can also slide on his belly, perform swipe attacks with his hands, or stab his head forward; this can also be dodged by jumping, and for the belly slide attack and the attack where the boss stabs his head forward, if the target jumps with proper timing, Gorumbla will get stomped and take damage. Another attack is where he drops colored blocks from the sky, which can be countered with hammers. The crimson blocks are directed at Mario, while the green ones go after Luigi.[2]
Gorumbla has a weakness in the form of a sculpture to the north of his arena; ifLuigi uses hisLuigi Logic skill, a stone placed on top of the sculpture can be dislodged and be sent flying at Gorumbla, who throws it atMario. Mario has to stop this stone with his hammer, after which Luigi can use his own hammer to send the boulder at Gorumbla again, stunning him for a turn or two; in this state, Gorumbla willtake more damage than normal.
There is aside quest where Gorumbla tries to make amends for all the damage he did by repairing the damage his actions caused. The Bros. can return to Rumbla to come to his aid at this point, earning two Ultra Mushrooms and a Max Syrup Jar if they succeed. This side quest becomes inaccessible whenReclusa awakens.
Gorumbla gets infected byGlohm after Reclusa awakens, becomingGlohm Gorumbla, a trickier version of himself during his first fight, leading to ChiefWillma to scold him again. Upon being asked who raised him, Glohm Gorumbla claims that nobody did. Mario and Luigi, upon arriving on the scene, fight with him to stop him. During this fight, Gorumbla uses stronger versions of his first fight's moveset. After the battle, Gorumbla is reverted to normal and apologizes for his actions, but Willma mocks his apology only to be stopped by her childrenMaykit andBilldit, who mention how he looked after them since they were babies. Willma, realizing that she has been too rough, decides he can join. Gorumbla forms a Bond with his new family.
