Goombeetles,[1] also known asOctobeetles,[2] are a type ofGoomba only found inSuper Mario Galaxy and its sequelSuper Mario Galaxy 2. They are Goombas that wear protective helmets, which prevent them from beingstomped on. Their name is derived from theBuzzy Beetles and, similar to them, they possess bright orange eyes. They are sometimes described as being robotic Goombas.[3] Goombeetles behave identically in both appearances.

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]
InSuper Mario Galaxy and itsNintendo Switchport, Goombeetles are found in mechanical- or military-basedgalaxies. They attack by charging atMario, just as regular Goombas. However, unlike regular Goombas, they cannot be defeated by being jumped on due to their helmets. To defeat them, Mario must flip them with aspin and then jump on them. Each one defeated releases a coin. If instead they are defeated with aBullet Bill, they will release threeStar Bits.
Goombeetles appear in the following list of galaxies and missions. If no mission is stated, Goombeetles appear during all missions:

- Battlerock Galaxy ("Battlerock Barrage", "Luigi under the Saucer")
- Buoy Base Galaxy ("The Secret of Buoy Base")

- Dreadnought Galaxy ("Infiltrating the Dreadnought")
Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]
Goombeetles return inSuper Mario Galaxy 2 and its Nintendo Switchport, functioning near-identically to their appearance in the previous game. They can now be defeated by theCo-Star Luma or by being trampled by aChomp, which, like the previous game, causes them to release three Star Bits.
