Gold Mice (orgold mice),[1][2][3] also referred to asgolden mice,[4]gold mouse ghosts,[5] orgold ghost mice,[6] are ghostly mice that appear inLuigi's Mansion andits remake. They are similar to theBlue Mice andPurple Mice, but they are more prominent because they release treasure if vacuumed into thePoltergust 3000. In this regard, they are similar toSpeedy Spirits, which are also hidden ghosts that release treasure. Like Speedy Spirits, Gold Mice release a variety of treasure, which can includecoins, bills,Gold Bars, and even aStone. Every Gold Mouse releases 30 coins, ten more than what Speedy Spirits release. In the PALHidden Mansion, each Gold Mouse drops 30 coins, 20 bills, a Gold Bar, and aBlue Diamond. If defeated with anelement, however, Gold Mice do not release any treasure.

Ten Gold Mice appear throughoutthe mansion, and they appear in a specific room from either one of two conditions. The fivecheese golden mice[7] (orcheese mice)[8] emerge from a hidden piece ofcheese ifLuigi scans it with theGame Boy Horror, while the fiverandom golden mice[7] (orRandom Mice)[9] have a 20 percent chance of appearing in a predetermined room or hallway. When one appears, the "puzzle complete" jingle plays, followed by the mouse squeaking. Luigi must capture a Gold Mouse before it escapes into the wall. However, unlike with Speedy Spirits, Luigi has another opportunity at catching the Gold Mouse if he reenters the location later, as long as the lights are not on.

Gold Mice reappear inLuigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (as well asits Nintendo Switch port) andLuigi's Mansion 3, maintaining the same role across all three games. In these games, Gold Mice are not shown to be ghosts but rather rarepests. As before, they yield treasure upon being defeated, which can be done by activating theStrobulb on them. Gold Mice drop one Gold Bar upon being defeated.
