TheGold Card, also known as theGold Credit andGolden Card, is an item in thePaper Mario series used to unlock specific mini-games.
InPaper Mario, the Gold Credit is a key item given as a reward byKoopa Koot whenMario completes ten favors for him, and is used in thePlayroom on the south side ofToad Town. This credit replaces theSilver Credit that Mario had previously earned from Koopa Koot. When Mario shows the Gold Credit to the Toad in the Playroom, the Toad opens up anotherWarp Pipe that lets Mario play the second minigame in the Playroom,Smash Attack.
InPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and itsNintendo Switch remake,Mario receives the Gold Card by completingFrankie's trouble from theTrouble Center. After obtaining it, he can play the "Tube Mode"mini-game atPianta Parlor. Several badges are also added to the shop:Power Rush,Power Rush P,Hammer Throw, andTornado Jump (andMultibounce in the original Japanese version).
InSuper Paper Mario, the Golden Card grants access the secretmini-game calledHammer Whacker at thearcade. The Golden Card is found in a hidden room inThe Overthere bar in Flopside.Mario can access this room by flipping into 3-D and walking past the wall that is byCarson. Mario and friends can then find the Golden Card (as well as aCooking Disk) in atreasure chest. Once Mario and co. consultThe InterChet with their Golden Card, The InterChet says that the current player is a welcome gamer and makes Hammer Whacker available to them.
