Giant wheels are round stone sculptures with menacing faces painted along their rolling surface originating inSonic Heroes as the final, chasing obstacle ofOcean Palace. They cross over with theSuper Mario franchise in theWii version ofMario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, where they appear in bothIndividual andTeam versions ofDream Alpine, which takes heavy influence from Ocean Palace, despite being labeled asSeaside Hill. Here, they slowly roll either across the path or down the path against the racers, contrary to their original role as fast pursuers.
