History[edit]
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[edit]
The Frying Pan, initially identified as aMetal Plate, is a weapon inSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and itsNintendo Switchremake. It can be bought for 300 coins from theMiner's Store, located in theMolevilleitem shop, but only after defeating theAxem Rangers. The Frying Pan increases Peach's Attack rating by 90, and it is her most powerful weapon.
Game & Watch Gallery series[edit]
A pan appears inGame & Watch Gallery 2 andGame & Watch Gallery 4, where it is used inChef, with Peach specifically using it in the Modern version to makefood forYoshi.
Paper Mario[edit]
A Frying Pan appears inPaper Mario as a special item. AfterMario and his partners free the thirdStar Spirit,Skolar, and go back toToad Town as usual, they see theShy Guys fromShy Guy's Toy Box stealing items fromToads and doing pranks all over the town. When Mario goes nearTayce T.'s house, one of the Shy Guys steals her Frying Pan and hides it in Shy Guy's Toy Box. Since the Frying Pan is stolen, Tayce T. cannot cook recipes for Mario for the time being.
The item is located in the Pink Station area of Shy Guy's Toy Box. To access the station, Mario has to first get theStoreroom Key in the Blue Station area that is guarded by an enemy or an item cast byKammy Koopa. After collecting the key from thetreasure chest, Mario must return it toHarry, who then lets Mario access his storeroom. The storeroom contains an important item, theToy Train. Just outside the Toy Box, Mario throws the Toy Train into the box, gaining access to the Pink Station. After Mario arrives at the Pink Station, he eventually notices an enemy or an item "guarding" the treasure chest containing the Frying Pan.
When Mario returns the Frying Pan to Tayce T., she rewards Mario by baking aCake. The Cake is needed to passGourmet Guy.
Super Smash Bros. series[edit]
In theSuper Smash Bros. series, Peach's side smash attack has her swing one of a tennis racket, golf club, or frying pan. In Peach's debut game,Super Smash Bros. Melee, and inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, the weapon used is random. InSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS andSuper Smash Bros. for Wii U, each time the attack is used Peach will cycle through the three items in the listed order, restarting from a tennis racket after having used a frying pan. InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, the player picks Peach's weapon by choosing to shift the attack or not, and in the former case the direction the attack is shifted in matters. To use the frying pan, the player has to hold the up before Peach swings her weapon. In all games, the frying pan does the most damage out of all three options.[1]
InSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate,Daisy has the same attacks as Peach, and therefore the exact same side smash attack.
Mario Kart series[edit]
A Frying Pan appears inMario Kart Arcade GP,Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, andMario Kart Arcade GP DX as one of Peach's character items. The item is used to attack Peach's opponents with a powerful blow.
Super Mario Odyssey[edit]
InSuper Mario Odyssey, frying pans replacehammers as the weapon of choice of theHammer Bros. in theLuncheon Kingdom. If Mariocaptures one of these Hammer Bros., he can throw frying pans as an attack as well, and use them to destroy mounds of cheese rocks to uncover hidden objects.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie[edit]
InThe Super Mario Bros. Movie,Toad is shown carrying a frying pan in his backpack. In the film, he uses it to distract the guards in front ofPeach's Castle with makeshift cooking so that Mario can sneak in to meet Peach. Toad later takes it out of his backpack when he and Peach go to confront Bowser. He most likely intended to use it as a weapon, similarly to how Peach uses her frying pan inSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and theSuper Smash Bros. series.
In an International variation of the film'sIllumination logo, Toad, after trying to fend aGoomba off with various knick-knacks, bashes it upside the head with his frying pan only to be chased by aGoomba Tower.
