Flying bananas^[1] are entities inDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. They are distinct from regularbananas for being larger, having two beady eyes and wings to fly. Flying bananas are common throughout the game, being particularly prevalent inZip-Line Shrine, where several are scattered around the level after theKongs pull anItem Handle from the ground at the beginning. Flying bananas hide insideitem containers or under Item Handles. Once uncovered, flying bananas quickly soar and start looping through the air, followed by a trail of regular bananas. Each flying banana holds a prize, which can be aBanana Coin or aPuzzle Piece. Before it flies away, the Kongs should collect all bananas conducted by the flying banana to receive the prize.

Bananas with wings had previously appeared inDonkey Kong Jungle Beat,New Play Control! Donkey Kong Jungle Beat,Donkey Kong Country Returns, andDonkey Kong Country Returns 3D, though here they function as a collectible and are the same size as regular bananas. In the latter two games, they appear in thebonus rooms ofTemple Topple,Clifftop Climb,Furious Fire, andMischievous Moles, but they are also seen outside the bonus rounds inCrazy Cart andMoving Melters.
