Flower Points (FP; also known asFlower Power) are a stat inSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (and, by extension, theNintendo Switch remake),Paper Mario, andPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Flower Points are similar to Magic Points or Mana Points (MP) in other role-playing games such asFinal Fantasy.Mario and his party use FP to performspecial moves. The latter name may be a reference toa slogan coined bypacifists protesting theVietnam War.
Bros. Points in theMario & Luigi series serve functionally the same purpose.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[edit]
InSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Flower Points can be used for attacks such as Mario'sSuper Jump attack andMallow'sThought Peek. Mario's party has a combined supply of Flower Points. The maximum of Flower Points is not raised by a "level up" as with MP in other RPGs. Instead, Mario's party has to collect items such asFlower Jars andFlower Boxes to increase its total FP rating. While Mario's party adventures, there are several ways to replenish the party's FP count. There are a variety of syrups, items that restore FP. Flower Points are also restored when Mario sleeps in aninn or when he finds aMushroom in atreasure box, which refill the party's FP supply andHP, or Health Points. In this game, Flower Points somewhat resembleFire Flowers fromSuper Mario Bros.
Paper Mario series[edit]
Paper Mario /Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]
In the first two games of thePaper Mario series, Flower Points return and are used for many of Mario's and hispartners' attacks. Mario can choose to increase his maximum FP when leveling up. Items likeHoney Syrups,Maple Syrups, andJammin' Jellies recover FP. In these games, the maximum number of Flower Points is raised at the player's own discretion whenever Mario levels up. The number can be further raised through the use of certain badges, such as theFP Plus.UnlikeSuper Mario RPG, Flower Points in this game now resembleSmiley Flowers fromSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Super Paper Mario[edit]
InSuper Paper Mario, Flower Points are only used within theFlipside Arcade, serving as an item to briefly enhance the player's abilities in theMansion Patrol andTilt Island minigames. In Mansion Patrol, they activate rapid fire on the player's cursor for a brief period, whereas in Tilt Island, they cause the player to beginSpin Dashing for a while, which makes them immune to all damage for as long as it is active.
Additionally, theHappy Flower returns in this game, although it now has a different appearance and function.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]
InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, a Flower Point appears as a sticker that can be used by players. It reuses its appearance fromPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
