Flatbush is a community in the borough ofBrooklyn, inNew York City. It is mentioned onThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show! and occasionally in issues of theNintendo Comics System. During return trips to Brooklyn, it is unknown if the neighborhood of Flatbush is actually visited.
OnThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, Flatbush is the neighborhood whereMario andLuigi grew up and is also where they startedMario Brothers Plumbing. As such, all of the show's live-action segments take place in Flatbush. A famous street in Flatbush is the eponymousFlatbush Avenue. Under the orders ofMama Mario, Mario once "washed [the street] as far as Flatbush Avenue".
In "Flatbush Koopa",King Koopa, after forcing theKoopa Pack to disband in theMushroom Kingdom, attempts to take over all of Brooklyn. Upon seeing Mario and Luigi, he threatens to flatten them worse than he is going to flatten Flatbush. However, his takeover is ultimately foiled.
In theSuper Mario Bros. comic "Beauty and the Beach", it is shown that a sailboat owned by Mario is namedThe Spirit of Flatbush.
In theGame Boy comicPipes is Pipes, while fixing the pipes at theClam Creek Nuclear Reactor, Mario comments that the pipelines are more confusing thanNew York City'ssubway system, though adds that he always managed to travel from Flatbush toFifth Street alright.
