Fire Shell isKooper's ultimate attack inPaper Mario, learned by leveling Kooper to theUltra Rank. To use this move, the player must use fiveFP and then repeatedly tilt the Control Stick () to the left to fill the gauge. All ground-based enemies will then be hit by the attack, receiving up to six points of damage. This move is also imbued with the fire element, allowing it to deal extra damage to certain enemies (e.g.,Frost Piranhas,White Clubbas, andDry Bones), but also none to those immune to fire (e.g.,Clefts,Buzzy Beetles,Chomps, andLava Bubbles). Furthermore, this move will permanently defeatDry Bones, and make bomb-type enemies (e.g.,Bob-ombs) explode and defeat themselves instantly.

Fire Shellwas going to reappear inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, as a move performed byKoops, since an unused attack description reads: "Hits enemies with a fiery shell." Instead,Shell Slam functions similarly.
