Fire Flowers (alternatively written asFireflowers[1]), also known asFlame Flowers,[2] are power-ups introduced inSuper Mario Bros. They change the player character into theirFire form, allowing them to throwfireballs, which defeat enemies, meltIce Blocks, light up dark areas, and in some games, light candles in certain levels. The Fire Flower is grabbed and wielded in most appearances outside of theSuper Mario series, and certain media such asClub Nintendo andPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door suggest that Fire Flowers are eaten by the characters, just likemushrooms. WhileMario inClub Nintendo remarks that the Fire Flower tastes "disgusting," the bio for Fire Flower's constellation inMario Party 9 describes it as a spicy and "surprisingly tasty snack." It is an upgrade over theSuper Mushroom, which is similarly reflected by theFlower Cup, which a Fire Flower is a symbol of, being higher ranked than theMushroom Cup.
Fire Flowers were originally design with white petals, a center orange circle, a green stem, and two green leaves forSuper Mario Bros. The design was updated inSuper Mario World to resemble an orangetulip with a happy face, as well as a shorter stem and smaller leaves.Super Mario All-Stars introduced the current design of Fire Flowers, which has red and yellow petals stylized as a continuous round shape, a white face with eyes, and a green stem with two leaves. Fire Flowers inSuper Smash Bros. are depicted with taller leaves and a round flower, and those inSuper Smash Bros. Melee have pink petals, a yellow face with eyes, and thinner leaves.
The Fire Flower has seen a number of variants. Its ice counterpart is known as theIce Flower, which became a common power-up afterNew Super Mario Bros. Wii, and its golden counterpart is known as theGold Flower. The Fire Flower is used asa basis forFlower Points in a few of the role-playing games.

Super Mario series[edit]
Super Mario Bros. /Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels[edit]
Fire Flowers in bothSuper Mario Bros. andSuper Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels give the player to shoot fireballs by pressing
, after turning Mario or Luigi into hisFire form. The fireballs are strong and handy projectiles to use because they can defeat most enemies and even defeatBowser with just five hits. There are some enemies which are immune to fireballs, such as theBuzzy Beetles. Only two fireballs can be thrown at once. If Mario gets hit while he is inFire form, he reverts back toSmall Mario. If Small Mario gets a Fire Flower, he only transforms intoSuper Mario.
Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]
Fire Flowers give the ability to shoot fireballs inSuper Mario Bros. 3. Here, it is redesigned to use a blue on white coloration, with eyes on certain larger sprites, alongside no longer using an animation. In the NES version, Fire Mario reverts to Super Mario upon being hit, nullifying the effects of the Fire Flower. InFamily Computer andNintendo Entertainment System releases, due to alternative values occasionally being assigned to the typical "green" palette, Fire Flower stems sometimes appear other colors, being cyan in fortress levels, light blue in tank levels, and white in ice levels containingbeanstalks. Original allowSmall Mario to morph straight to Fire Mario through a glitch. The Fire Flower is redesigned in theSuper Mario All-Stars version, using a new red and yellow on white coloration and having eyes consistently.
Super Mario World[edit]
Fire Flowers were redesigned forSuper Mario World to appear as happy orange tulip-like plants. They work the same as usual, but Fire Mario reverts back to Small Mario in theSNES version, since theitem storage of an additional power-up item, such as the Fire Flower, can fall to him, though in theremake, the downgraded form is Super Mario. Because of the added feature ofspin-jumping when Mario does so by pressing
, he shoots out fireballs left and right while in the air. The Fire Flower can upgrade the player character to their Fire form, which would become standard in later installments.
Early test cartridges used a circular appearance for the Fire Flower like in other games.
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins[edit]
Fire Flowers were reinstated inSuper Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, after being replaced bySuperball Flowers inSuper Mario Land. The Fire Flower gives Fire Mario a feather on top of his hat, since theGame Boy cannot display the color differences properly. Wario also uses a dark Fire Flower to becomeFire Wario during the third portion of the final boss battle. A Fire Flower can even appear if Mario isSmall.
Super Mario 64 DS[edit]
Fire Flowers are only graphics in some minigames ofSuper Mario 64 DS: They are on some of the cards inLuigi's card games; a symbol inMushroom Roulette; slots inMario Slot andSuper Mario Slot, where matching three multiplies the gambled coins by ten; on cards inPsyche Out!; and cameo inSlots Shot.
New Super Mario Bros.[edit]
Fire Flowers ofNew Super Mario Bros. look the same as they do inSuper Mario All-Stars. The Fire Flower can produce fireballs that can produce a coin, similar toSuper Mario World. Fire Flowers cannot turnShell Mario into Fire Mario and are relegated as aStored Item. The Fire Flower is still a graphic on certain playing cards in the Table minigames fromSuper Mario 64 DS. The minigamePicture Poker puts Fire Flowers at a tier higher than Mushrooms.
Super Mario Galaxy[edit]
The fireballs from Fire Flowers inSuper Mario Galaxy and itsNintendo Switchport not only defeat but also destroysnow obstructions and lighttorches. The Fire Flower wears off not by damage but after twenty seconds, meaning Mario and Luigi can take damage and still retain their Fire Mario and Fire Luigi forms, respectively. The Fire Flower allows for more than two fireballs to be thrown, but this is not usable underwater. Fire Flowers first appear in theFreezeflame Galaxy alongsideIce Flowers. They are later used to break boulders in theDusty Dune Galaxy, light torches to open a gate in theDeep Dark Galaxy, and melt the snow in theSnow Cap Galaxy.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
Fire Flowers appear inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii, typically within underground, underwater, and snow environments. They are based mostly on their role inNew Super Mario Bros., but their fireballs have a few more functions, including the ability to light up dark places; burning the shells ofPrickly Goombas to revert them to Goombas; and defeatCheep Chomps andPorcupuffers.
Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]
The Fire Flowers ofSuper Mario Galaxy 2 are like those inSuper Mario Galaxy while still appearing in unique capacities. Fire Flowers are first seen in theCrate Burning minigame, seen only in "The Great Crate Incinerator" ofRightside Down Galaxy and "Burning Upside Dizzy" ofUpside Dizzy Galaxy; they are essential, since the player character cannot break every crate otherwise. Fire Flowers are required to defeatSquizzard in the Slipsand Galaxy's first and third missions. They also appear inFreezy Flake Galaxy, theSlipsand Galaxy and theBattle Belt Galaxy.
Super Mario 3D Land[edit]
Fire Flowers are power-up items inSuper Mario 3D Land. They are like their appearances in the sidescrolling games, notSuper Mario Galaxy or its sequel, other than their ability to light torches. Fire Flowers are able to destroythistles.
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
The Fire Flower reappears inNew Super Mario Bros. 2. Their fireballs work like in previous games but can be shot into! Pipes to releasecoins and other items. The game introduces a Fire Flower counterpart titled theGold Flower, which turns Mario intoGold Mario, who throws golden fireballs that produce coins from hitting enemies andBrick Blocks.
New Super Mario Bros. U /New Super Luigi U /New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
The Fire Flower reappears inNew Super Mario Bros. U,New Super Luigi U, andtheir port. Their role is the most similar toNew Super Mario Bros. Wii, since they allow for dark places to be lit up and Prickly Goomba shells to be burnt, but are also the most common in the same environments. Unique functions of a Fire Flower's fireballs include the ability to burn the ice platforms inPiranha Plants on Ice andSlippery Rope Ladders; obtainingStar Coins next toBig Piranha Plants andUrchins. Fire Flowers are obtainable inbubbles produced byBubble Baby Yoshi. In the port, playing asToadette causes most ? Blocks that would contain Fire Flowers to releaseSuper Crowns.
Super Mario 3D World /Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[edit]
The Fire Flower reappears inSuper Mario 3D World andits port, having the most similarity to their appearance inSuper Mario 3D Land. The fireballs of a Fire Flower can reveal the invisible platforms ofFootlight Lane andTrickity Tower, destroy thespike balls inClear Pipe Cruise andCrates inDouble Cherry Pass, and cause the snow on theTrees inSnowball Park to fall. Fire Flowers are one of the slots depicted onSlot Blocks inLucky Houses.
Super Mario Maker series[edit]
Fire Flowers reappear as power-ups inSuper Mario Maker,its port, andSuper Mario Maker 2. They look the same in each game style, exceptSuper Mario Bros. 3, where they are designed similarly to their modern counterparts. Fire Flowers are placeable anywhere inCourse Maker, including on Mario to turn him into Fire Mario. Fire Flowers can become status-dependent progressive items if a Super Mushroom is dragged onto them.
Fire Flowers travel away from the player character in the nighttime ground theme ofSuper Mario Maker 2, in addition to being featured in the jobTreetop Fireballs. They can also be transformed into aSuperball Flower fromSuper Mario Land.
Super Mario Run[edit]
Fire Flowers do not appear inSuper Mario Run. However, there is aFire Flower Statue building in the Kingdom Builder mode, The8-bit Fire Flower Statue is another building, and the8-bit Fire Flower Trim is a decoration. Both of these use the Fire Flower's appearance fromSuper Mario Bros.
Fire Flowers are stamps on the Stamp Cards in theSuper Mario Bros. Wonder event inSuper Mario Run from December 20, 2023 to March 15, 2024.

Super Mario Bros. 35[edit]
Fire Flowers appeared inSuper Mario Bros. 35. They turn Mario into Fire Mario regardless of his previous state, and back into Super Mario if he receives damage. A Fire Flower added 15 seconds to thetimer if Fire Mario obtained it. The Item Roulette had a chance of giving the player a Fire Flower.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder[edit]
The Fire Flower appears inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder with no major difference from before. Although the power-up is functionally the same, players are now able to hurl fireballs whilstcrouching or riding on aYoshi.

Fire Flowers also appeared in the cartoon television seriesThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show!,The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, andSuper Mario World. Most episodes have their outfit either be not changed at all (often due to animation errors) or turn white and red/green (inThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show! andSuper Mario World) or orange and red (inThe Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3).
InThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, when a character touches a Fire Flower, they sometimes first gain a temporary increase in size, then gain their fire powers as well as flight and/or extra speed and strength sometimes; they are called their Super forms in this show. The following shows use the same powers and form name as in the respective games. The Fire Flower first appears in the episode "The Bird! The Bird!", where Mario uses it to melt the snow trapping him.
InThe Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, due to their sprite's appearing blue in the coinciding game,Super Mario Bros. 3, Fire Flowers are depicted as blue and white flowers. During "Reign Storm", the Robot Princess orders all Fire Flowers to be extinguished, as if they were actual fires.
InSuper Mario World, Fire Flowers look like realistic orange tulips with no eyes that are always connected to a ? Block. They sometimes spit out fireballs themselves. Mario is the only character in the show to be seen using Fire Flowers. The power-up first appears in "The Wheel Thing", where he uses it to burn some holes into some wheels.
Club Nintendo[edit]
Fire Flowers existed since the stone age, according to "Super Mario: Verloren in der Zeit." A Fire Flower is used by Mario at one point to throw Fireballs at a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Unusually, Mario eats a Fire Flower to receive their abilities and describes them as tasting disgusting.
Mario Kart series[edit]
Within every game of theMario Kart series, the Fire Flower is the emblem of theFlower Cup.
Mario Kart Wii[edit]
A poster with a Fire Flower appears inMoonview Highway inMario Kart Wii. If the player is aMii, its face changes to a randomMii on the console's memory. The "Delfino Dream" store ofCoconut Mall is shown to sell Fire Flowers amongst other items.
Mario Kart 7[edit]
Fire Flowers can be obtained by certain players from anItem Box inMario Kart 7, anywhere between 2nd to 4th position, as well as 5th position if they are not CPUs. A Fire Flower is used to throw severalfireballs forward or backward by pressing
, causing racers to spin out. The Fire Flower wears off either after throwing all ten fireballs or ten seconds after the first one is thrown. Only three fireballs appear at once, and if a fourth is thrown while there are still three fireballs, the first one thrown disappears.
Mario Kart 8 /Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]
The Fire Flower item returns inMario Kart 8 andMario Kart 8 Deluxe, and it works similarly to how it did inMario Kart 7, with the difference being one can throw more than 3 fireballs at one time. A meter is added to indicate players how much time is left until the Fire Flower's effects disappear. Additionally, the statue ofPrincess Peach inToad Harbor can be seen holding a Fire Flower in its lowered right hand. A flower patch with a Fire Flower design can also be found in the background ofGCN Baby Park. InWii Coconut Mall from theBooster Course Pass, there is a shop named "Fire Flower Curry House".
Mario Kart Tour[edit]
The Fire Flower returns inMario Kart Tour as thespecial item ofMario,Luigi,Red Toad (Pit Crew),Red Koopa (Freerunning),Fire Bro,Birdo (Green),Metal Mario,Mario (Santa),Wario (Cowboy),Daisy (Yukata),Peach (Halloween),Fire Rosalina,Pauline (Rose),Gold Mario (outside of Coin Rush), and theMario, Luigi, and Piranha Plant Mii Racing Suits. When deployed, fireballs orbit the player's kart and can fire a spread of three fireballs instead of throwing several fireballs, very much like theFireball fromMario Kart: Double Dash!!. When Fire Flower+ is active, a fourth fireball is added, allowing the player to use four fireballs as opposed to just three.
Mario Kart World[edit]
The Fire Flower returns inMario Kart World, behaving similarly to past appearances, although it is limited to eight fireballs rather than ten.
Mario is Missing![edit]
Thefire flower appears only in the PC version ofMario is Missing!, once every artifact has been returned in every city and gives Luigi the ability to burn theKoopa Kid and continue to the next floor ofBowser's Castle.

In theSuper Smash Bros. series, the Fire Flower appears as an item in every installment to date. Once picked up, the player, instead of gaining the ability to throw fireballs, can shoot a continuous but short stream of fire from it to damage anyone nearby. It does have a limit to how much fire it can use, and loses its abilities after constant use. The Fire Flower also deals fire damage if it hits an opponent when thrown. InSuper Smash Bros., the Fire Flowers are alike to their debut appearance, but inSuper Smash Bros. Melee, they look like daisies with eyes and white petals, a design which is original toSuper Smash Bros. FromSuper Smash Bros. Brawl onwards, the Fire Flower is given its appearance fromSuper Mario All-Stars.
In addition, a Fire Flower appears as asticker inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, which can be used on a fighter inThe Subspace Emissary to grant them a Fire Flower at the beginning of a stage. A Fire Flower also appears as a Novice-class supportspirit inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. When used, it similarly equips the fighter with a Fire Flower at the beginning of a battle. This spirit's core can be combined with the cores ofMetal Mario and aSuper Mushroom to summon theGold Mario spirit, or with the cores of Charlotte Aulin and aFreezie to summon theKoume & Kotake spirit.
Mario and Luigi use Fireballs as their standard special move. Mario shoots red fireballs, and Luigi shoots green, like inMario Kart: Double Dash!! This is the first game in which Mario and Luigi use the flower itself to throw fireballs rather than transforming into their Fire forms, a tactic that would later be used in thePaper Mario andMario & Luigi series.

Paper Mario[edit]
The Fire Flower is a one-use item inPaper Mario. It uses a similar design to itsSuper Mario World design, but with a face more similar to itsSuper Mario All Stars design. It can be found in shops, enemy item drops (such as fromPiranha Plants), and item blocks. Rather than transforming Mario, Mario plants the Fire Flower, and the Fire Flower emits fire that burns opponents. If used against ice enemies, it deals an extra 2 damage points, whereas it replenishes the health of fire enemies such as theLava Bubble andEmber. These items can be purchased in manyshops, such as in theShroom Grocery fromToad Town,Koopa's Shop fromKoopa Village, andYoshi's Cabana fromLavalava Island.
Tayce T. can also cook her own Fire Flower by mixing aDried Fruit and aStrange Leaf, two items that resemble the two parts of a Fire Flower.
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door[edit]
InPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Fire Flowers reuse their design from the previous game. They can be purchased inToad Bros. Bazaar fromRogueport,Niff T.'s shop fromPetalburg, andKeelhaul Galleria fromKeelhaul Key. If the Fire Flower is used against ice enemies, it deals an extra damage point. Fire Flowers can be also used as ingredients to be made into new items with a help of Tayce T. orZess T. Recipes can be found below.
Similar to theClub Nintendo comic, this game also claims that Mario does indeed eat Fire Flowers: a certain optional scene in theGlitz Pit has Mario informing aLakitu cameraman that he "shoots fire when he eats a flower".

Super Paper Mario[edit]
InSuper Paper Mario, Fire Flowers cameo as non-collectible items in the skies ofLineland, inOuter Space, andFort Francis in the room on the left. TheFire Burst replaces the Fire Flowers from the previousPaper Mario games. Additionally, designs of theSpeed Flowers andSlow Flowers, along with this game's version of theHappy Flower, resemble the appearance of Fire Flowers.
Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]
The Fire Flower returns as asticker inPaper Mario: Sticker Star, having its appearance fromSuper Mario All-Stars and onward. Using it in battle turns Mario into Fire Mario, allowing him to throw fireballs at any ground and low-altitude enemies, causing them to disintegrate into ash if their HP is fully depleted. A Fire Flower can be placed in theSticker Museum as #67, having a two-star attack rating. They are commonly found inWorld 1, and are available at theWhammino Mountain sticker shop for 20 coins.Shiny andFlashy variants of this sticker also exist, which inflict more damage. Fire Flowers also appear on theBattle Spinner, where lining up three of them has the same effect as a Fire Flower sticker. To open the door toDrybake Desert, Mario must Paperize either a Fire Flower or Ice Flower into a specific spot. A similar puzzle appears on the final floor ofDrybake Stadium.
Paper Mario: Color Splash[edit]
Fire Flowers return inPaper Mario: Color Splash, taking the form of acard and keeping their appearance from the previous game. They come in normal andBig variations, and are found since the very beginning of the game, first appearing inRuddy Road. They commonly appear on theBattle Spin. Fire Flower cards use a high amount of red paint to color. AtPrisma Cardware, a pre-painted Fire Flower costs 200 coins, while an unpainted one costs 40.
Paper Mario: The Origami King[edit]
InPaper Mario: The Origami King, Fire Flowers reappear as items and function the same as in the previous twoPaper Mario games, allowing Mario to shoot fireballs at enemies in a line formation.Shiny versions also return. They are strong againstSumo Bros and theBoss Sumo Bro. They can also be used to deal some damage to theIce Vellumental while it is encased in ice. Fire Flowers can be bought atToad Town,Picnic Road, and theSouvenir Shop inShogun Studios for 240 coins. InWhispering Woods, aFaded Fire Flower can be collected. If it is thrown into the forest spring, it transforms into a regular Fire Flower. TheFire Flower Set is a box of three Fire Flowers that is sold at Toad Town for 640 coins. Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time[edit]
InMario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Fire Flowers are referred to asBro Flowers and use the design fromSuper Mario All-Stars. They are one of theBros. Items. If used, the player attacks all the enemies with a certain amount of fireballs by constantly pressing the
button if the big fireball is passed on to Mario or the
button if it is passed on to Luigi. The player can press the
button (if passed to Mario) or the
button (if passed to Luigi) to make their baby counterparts shoot fireballs, which damage airborne enemies. In addition, the attack mayburn their foes. The game introduced three counterparts:Mix Flower,Ice Flower, andCopy Flower. Ice Flowers damage enemies like Fire Flowers do, though Fire Flowers burn them, while Ice Flowers randomly decrease their stats, such as attack, defense, and speed. Bro Flowers never deal more than one damage toElasto-Piranhas,Dark Boos, redWonder Thwacks, or enemies with 999 DEF, such asGold Koopeleon.
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story /Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey[edit]
Fire Flowers again appear inMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story andMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey as aBros. Attack obtained by collecting all tenPump WorksAttack Pieces. They are used almost the same as inPartners in Time, but after a certain number of hits, the player can hit both and buttons to attack simultaneously. The move costs 4SP (3 with a Budget Charm or Thrift Charm, 2 with a Tight Belt) in the original, and 6 BP (7 on Easy mode) in the remake. Rapidly pressing the button is required to get an Excellent rating on this attack. As of this game, Mario and Luigi now turn into theirFire forms from theSuper Mario games for the duration of the move.
InMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, after finishing the Fire Flower Bros. Attack, Mario cleans his hands, spin around and tip his hat, while Luigi spins around and does a finger gun motion.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team[edit]
The Fire Flower returns as Luigi's second available Bros. Attack inMario & Luigi: Dream Team, costing 5 BP (3 if Casual Bros is equipped). Its Attack Pieces are found inDozing Sands. It can hit any enemy on the ground and airborne enemy, and may inflict the Burn status. Damage is inflicted only after the attack ends, and thus it is impossible for enemies to be defeated during the attack.
When used, Mario and Luigi begin charging and hurling fireballs at the enemies erratically. The player must press or for Mario and Luigi, respectively, to launch fireballs randomly at the enemies, with orange fireballs (fully charged fireballs that flash to signal this) doing the most damage. If red fireballs (not charged) are fired, they do considerably less damage and none at all if the fireballs are charged too long. If all fireballs are thrown appropriately, Mario and Luigi eventually start charging fireballs rapidly, the player having to press and rapidly in order to throw as many as possible at the enemies.
The greater the amount of fireballs thrown, the better the ranking the player receives in the aftermath of the attack, ranging from "OK!" to "Excellent!" ratings. The damage dealt from this attack is given a Fire attribute, and thus deals critical damage toCaccacs andBeehoss.
TheMad Skillathon involves charging more fireballs which instantly defeat their targets. Occasionally, a larger target may appear, triggering the bonfire phase.
Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam[edit]
The Fire Flower returns inMario & Luigi: Paper Jam. Like inMario & Luigi: Dream Team, it is one of Luigi's Bros. Attack moves. However, the attack is available from the start of the game, obtained atPeach's Castle along with the3D Red Shell, and now acts like it did inMario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. This move also deals critical damage to paper enemies.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership[edit]
The Fire Flower reappears inMario & Luigi: Brothership, but unlike previous games, it is not a Bros. Attack. Instead, it is used by Mario to turn into Fire Mario in the overworld for theBros. MoveFire & Ice, allowing him to throw fireballs to melt frozen objects and light objects on fire. Mario also uses the item during theMax-Mix Vortex Bros. Attack, throwing fireballs into the vortex.
Mario Tennis series[edit]
In theMario Tennis series, a Fire Flower typically appears as theFlower Cup emblem. InMario Power Tennis, aside from the Flower Cup's appearance, a Fire Flower appears on one of the trophies. InMario Tennis Open, the Flower Cup returns, and there is a tennis racket, uniform, wrist bands, and shoes designed after a Fire Flower that Miis to use. Furthermore, in theMario Tennis Open minigame,Super Mario Tennis, collecting a Fire Flower makes the ball shoot two fireballs in different directions every time the ball hits the screen, capable of defeating enemies and collectingcoins. InMario Tennis Aces, the Fire Flower is once again an emblem for the Flower Cup.
Yoshi Touch & Go[edit]
InYoshi Touch & Go, the Fire Flower and an 8-bit sprite version of it appear as two of the ranking icons to pick from when a high score is achieved.
Mario Superstar Baseball[edit]
The Fire Flower appears as the emblem of the Flower Cup inMario Superstar Baseball.
Super Mario Strikers[edit]
The Flower Cup returns as one of thecups inSuper Mario Strikers.
Mario Hoops 3-on-3 /Mario Sports Mix[edit]
A Fire Flower is the icon used for theFlower Tourney inMario Hoops 3-on-3 andMario Sports Mix.
Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis[edit]
InMario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, Fire Flowers are introduced inTropical Island. When aMini touches a Fire Flower, it turns into itsfire form for a limited time; for example, a Mini Mario that touches a Fire Flower turns into Fire Mini Mario and begins throwing fireballs within a limited time to defeat and temporarily stun enemies. Fire Flowers can be obtained from a ? Block if a Mini hits the ? Block from below.
When a Mini collects a Fire Flower, the sound effect of collecting a Fire Flower fromSuper Mario Bros. is played. However, the "Ground Theme" can be faintly heard within this sound effect, implying that the sound was not properly isolated, and was instead recorded indirectly from gameplay ofSuper Mario Bros.
Mario Golf: World Tour[edit]
Fire Flowers are usable item shots inMario Golf: World Tour, not only increasing shot distance but also being able to burn through obstructions such as trees. It is the signature item forPrincess Daisy. There is a Fire Flower-themed clothing set, golf ball, and set of golf clubs usable byMiis only.
Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition[edit]
InPuzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, Fire Flowers are used in the place of the Fire Element tiles. Fire Flowers are also used astransformation items to turn various teammates into their stronger forms, allowing them to use stronger versions of their Skills, such as transformingBullet Bill intoBanzai Bill.
Minecraft[edit]
In the Super Mario Mash-Up Pack inMinecraft, Flint and Steel is replaced by a Fire Flower.
Mario Sports Superstars[edit]
The Fire Flower has several cameo appearances on Mario's gear inMario Sports Superstars. The Flower Cup also reappears in the game.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie[edit]
Fire Flowers appear in a scene inThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, where Peach transforms into Fire Peach after touching one of them. During his battle withDonkey Kong,Mario manages to get one from a? Block, but Donkey Kong extinguishes it before he can use it. Donkey Kong also transforms into Fire Donkey Kong after touching one that appeared out of a ? Block that was kicked to him by Mario.[3]

The Fire Flower is available as afurniture item in every mainlineAnimal Crossing game, usually taking on a depiction based on its sprite fromSuper Mario Bros. InAnimal Crossing: New Leaf andAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, the Fire Flower, along with all otherSuper Mario-based items, are given their current appearances.
A Fire Flower appears in anE3 2014 sketch by the producers ofRobot Chicken, whereReggie Fils-Aimé uses it totransform and set an indignant fan asking forMother 3 on fire.
Fire Flowers also appear in theWii U version ofScribblenauts Unlimited where they can be created using Maxwell's notebook. They can be given to Mario and Luigi to turn them into their respective Fire forms.
