This article is about the status ailment. For the 50cc engine class in the Mario Kart series, referred to as "Fast" in a US commercial, seeMario Kart § Modes of play.

Fast is a positive status condition inPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door,its Nintendo Switch remake, andPaper Mario: The Origami King. It allows the character to act twice in one turn.

The Fast status effect was planned to appear in the originalPaper Mario through an item called theHustle Drink, but both the item and effect are unused in the final build.

Two bosses have the ability to power themselves up with this status condition, althoughGoombella can useRally Wink to bestow it uponMario as well (however, it will only last for one turn in this case). Indicated by a small "x2" above the affected character's head, or by two sky blue triangles in the remake, it allows the character to act twice in one turn.Macho Grubba bestows this status condition upon himself at the start of his battle with Mario, andBeldam will occasionally use her magic to grant it to herself or toone of her allies during her second fight against Mario and his partners at thePalace of Shadow.

If a target has the Fast status effect and is inflicted withSlow, the two effects negate each other.

InPaper Mario: The Origami King, passing over an Extra Action Panel during boss fights allows Mario to act twice on his turn if he ends on an Action Panel.
