Falling blocks[1] are slab-like obstacles inSuper Mario Land. They appear identical to the surrounding landscape of alevel, but they fall after a moment afterMario comes close to them, in a similar fashion tofalling spikes. Falling blocks inflict damage upon contact from below or the sides, even before falling down, but Mario can briefly stand on them. They appear only inWorld 1-3 andWorld 4-1.
