Fake Out is amicrogame in9-Volt &18-Volt's mode inGame & Wario,Gamer. Like other microgames in the game, it has an individual Cluck-A-Pop souvenir, titledBALLOON FIGHTER: Fake Out.WarioWare Gold also features a rare variation ofGold Digger similar to the first level of Fake Out, though it is not treated as a separate microgame and cannot be selected from the Index as a result.
Gameplay[edit]
The player is presented a fake version of another microgame, in which they must not touch anything to win. When playing in the Cluck-A-Pop, the possibilities cycle in this order:
- 1st level difficulty: A mouth replaces the nose inGold Digger. If the player "picks" the mouth, it bites the finger and they lose; if the player does nothing, the mouth blows a kiss and they win.
- 2nd level difficulty: A cactus appears inBreak! If the player pokes the cactus, the finger gets hurt as the screen will turn monochromatic, and they lose; if the player does nothing, the cactus grows a flower and the player wins.
- 3rd level difficulty: A doll with a bomb inside appears inMatryoshka. If the player opens the doll, the bomb explodes and they lose; if the player does nothing, a cuckoo bird comes out of the doll's face and the game is won.
When played in Gamer, any one of the three possibilities may show up over the course of the game. The Balloon Fighter souvenir version is unusual in theWarioWare franchise for being a fake-out microgame that does not have an occasional double fake-out in Index mode, making it possible to reach the counter's limit of 999 with no input needed after pressing on the souvenir's title screen.
