Electro-Koopas (alternatively spelledElectro-koopas),[1] also referred to asElectric Koopas[2] orDenki Nokonoko,[3] areKoopa Troopa enemies that appear inSuper Mario Sunshine. They are quadrupedal Koopas, each with a shell adorned with electric coils that grant the enemy electrical powers. Because of this,Mario cannot defeat Electro-Koopas like other Koopa Troopas andstomp them out of or into their shells; simply spraying the enemies withwater does not defeat them, either.
There are two types of Electro-Koopa: the aggressiveBlue Electro-Koopa, which roams on the ground and attacks Mario on sight by tossing its shell, leaving itunshelled and vulnerable; and the passiveRed Electro-Koopa, which clings tometal screens likeClimbing Koopas and, like them, can be defeated if Mariopunches it from the other side of the metal screen.
Electro-Koopas are common enemies inPinna Park, and during "The Runaway Ferris Wheel," the Red Electro-Koopas and their leader, theElectro-Koopa King, take control of the park's Ferris wheel, causing it to rotate at a dangerous speed.
Electro-Koopas are one of many enemies and characters fromSuper Mario Sunshine to make a cameo appearance on the leaderboards in the Italian version ofMario Golf: Toadstool Tour.[4]
