Ding Bell

TheDing Bell is a large, steam-powered boat owned byMark Twang. InThe Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode "Rolling Down the River", Mark Twang uses the Ding Bell in his race againstCaptain Koopa for the honor of becoming King of the River and presumably, theRiver World. Captain Koopa cheats in the race and sabotages the Ding Bell's engine, severely limiting the speed it can travel at.

It is only when Mark Twang saveMario andLuigi from a voraciousTrouter and brings them aboard the Ding Bell, that the Ding Bell's engine is able repaired; Mario and Luigi manage to successfully repair the Ding Bell's engine. With the Ding Bell's engine repaired, Mark Twang is able to catch-up to Captain Koopa and hisSinister Star.

The Ding Bell's progress in Mark Twang's race to be King of the River is halted once again when Captain Koopa makes an impassable black pit in the river with aBlack Pit Bob-Omb. It is only through the intervention of Mario, Luigi and a "plunger anchor" that the Ding Bell narrowly manages to avoid being sucked into the black pit. The Ding Bell is eventually docked near a portion of land when Mark Twang, Mario and Luigi go to see theMouth of the River for advice on how to pass the black pit.

After gaining advice from the Mouth of the River, Mario and Luigi manage to create an intricate piping system that drains the water from around the black pit and empties it into a nearby path, separated from the black pit by a wall of rocks. With this new path, the Ding Bell can pass the black pit unhindered.

Much later, the Ding Bell manages to catch-up to the Sinister Star, withSuper Mario and Super Luigi powering the device ahead on jump powered pumps. When Mario and Luigi later leap from the Ding Bell to the Sinister Star, the Ding Bell manages to move ahead of the Sinister Star.

The Ding Bell later appears to attack the Sinister Star withTurnips fired from acannon. As Mark Twang maneuvers the Ding Bell, the Mouth of the River fires Turnips at the Sinister Star, with one of these Turnips being accurate enough to hit the Sinister Star's driver,Clawgrip, incapacitating him.

The Ding Bell is last seen carrying Mario, Luigi,Toad, Mark Twang, the Mouth of the River, andPrincess Toadstool, who had beached the Sinister Star, across the finish line of the river.
