"Dear Princess Toadstool" is a regular feature of theSuper Mario Bros. comics, in whichPrincess Toadstool answers letters from variousSuper Mario characters, with comedic responses. The feature ran for three installments.

Issues[edit]

First issue[edit]

In the first issue, the first letter is sent by Luigi, who tells Princess Toadstool that he does not know what to do with his mustache because he likes it very much, but his girlfriend wants him to shave it because it tickles her. The princess advises him to shave only half of his mustache.

The second letter is sent byKing Koopa, who tells Princess Toadstool how his dream of conquering theMushroom Kingdom is stopped byhis mother, who insists that he must finish high school before doing so, and asks her if he needs to graduate to conquer the world. The princess proposes that he should continue studying because perhaps, one day, he will want to do a job that requires intelligence and will regret not graduating.

The third letter is from theMushroom King, who complains to his daughter about how he finds it unfair to always be turned into an animal and that he would like some respect. The princess replies that she cannot answer his question because it could affect her allowance.

Second issue[edit]

In the second issue, the first letter is from aFlurry, who tells Princess Toadstool how many think that the snowflakes falling from his head are actually dandruff. The princess suggests that he should only listen to his real friends and ignore those who make such jokes.

The second letter comes fromTryclyde, with each of his heads asking different questions: the first asks if plastic surgery can help make him more beautiful, the second tries to invite the princess to dinner, and the third asks if, in case the princess agrees to go to the cinema after dinner, he has to pay for the popcorn. The princess answers "maybe" to the first question, "no" to the second, and for the third she answers, "Yes, but no thanks―times THREE!"

The third letter is from an irritatedBob-Omb because people do not trust him and often make jokes about the fact that he is an exploding bomb. The princess's answer proposes an extension for his fuse and to relax in a body of water if he feels like he is going to explode.

Third issue[edit]

In the third and final issue, the first letter is from King Koopa, who tells how he always wanted to be called "Muffin" to gain popularity with girls, and asks how one can steal a nickname. The princess replies that nicknames should be earned, not stolen: she therefore suggests that to earn it he should start eating 100 muffins a day and give money to people with cards that say "from your friend Muffin".

The second letter is from aPhanto, who tells how, due to his resemblance to theprotagonist ofThe Phantom of the Opera, everyone takes it for granted that he adores opera, and when he is invited to someone else's house they force him to listen to it, when in reality he hates it. The princess gives him three options: start carrying around his own records for others to listen to, change his name to "Elvis" (or even "Muffin") or moving to another "aria" (a pun on "area").

The third question is from Luigi, who wonders why people continue to call him and his brother the "Mario Brothers" and not the "Luigi Brothers" The princess simply proposes that he be called "Muffin". At the bottom of the page, the Princess is shown eating a muffin and greets readers by signing herself as "Muffin Toadstool".
