Daikon
Daikon (from the Japanese 大根,daikon) are a type of radish farmed primarily inEast Asia and mainly recognizable for their long white roots. They have appeared various times in theSuper Mario franchise and related games, though several of these appearances are removed inWestern localizations or replaced with the similar-shapedcarrots.

Super Mario World[edit]
Giant-sized daikon appear as tall thin platforms in athletic stages inSuper Mario World, similar to the previousislands andMushroom Platforms. A daikon can have green, blue, yellow, or level-specific shades of orange leaves.Bouncing boughs are sometimes mounted to their sides.
Super Mario Maker 2[edit]
Daikon appear assemisolid platforms in the sky theme of theSuper Mario World game style ofSuper Mario Maker 2.
Mario Party 6[edit]
InMario Party 6, daikon are the focus of the Japanese version of the minigameGarden Grab, where a giant one must be pulled from the ground with a teammate before the other team does so. In international releases, they are replaced with carrots.
WarioWare series[edit]
In theWarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! minigameWario Kendo, theKendo-practitioner swings a daikon on the first and third stages.
In the original Japanese version of theWarioWare: Smooth Moves microgameCarrot Away, the character pulls out daikon, though these are switched to carrots in international releases.
