TheCushion tires are an unlockable set of tires that first appears inMario Kart 8 andMario Kart 8 Deluxe. The tires are constructed out of patchwork of several different colors. The tires offer a boost in acceleration and traction, at the cost of speed, weight, and handling. They have identical stats to theWood andSponge tires, but unlike those two tire sets, the Cushion tires are as big as theMonster andHot Monster tires, requiring all kart bodies (except theTri-Speeder andTanooki Kart) to be raised above them.

InMario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Cushion tires' states are only slightly altered. Their water speed is slightly better, they do not boost acceleration anymore, and their traction has been slightly reduced as well. The Cushion tires now only share their stats with the Sponge tires.
