Craft Island is an island featured inYoshi's Woolly World and its remakePoochy & Yoshi's Woolly World. While the remake's user interface identifies this location with a ☆, it is explicitly not a world.[1] It is the home of theYoshis, and serves as a hub for multiple non-level locations and features. In the game's story,Kamek arrives at the island to turn all the Yoshis into bundles ofWonder Wool and steal them all. Two Yoshis avoid the spell, then set off to rescue the stolen Yoshis. The center of the island has aBig Yarn Ball. Due to differences in how the games handle World Maps, Craft Island's appearance and functionality differs between both games.
Layout[edit]
Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]
Craft Island is a green circular platform surrounded by Worlds1 through5, withWorld 6 further off in the Handmade Ocean.Miis are dotted around the island, which show theirMiiverse posts when prompted. The Big Yarn Ball stands in the center surrounded by even more yarn and a dolly on the ground. Surrounding that yarn ball and extending across to the entrances of each building are concentric circles of fabric. The innermost circle is yellow, the middle circle is orange, and the outermost circle is pink with polka-dots. There are three buildings on Craft Island: theYoshi Hut, theamiibo Hut, and theScrapbook Theater. As each of the game's worlds are unlocked,World Bobbins are added to access those worlds. After completingKing Bowser's Castle, the eight single colored Yoshis that are not playable by default are reknit and reside on the island.
Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World[edit]
Craft Island is a green circular platform, which Yoshi traverses a chord of. The chord is indicated by a roll of yellow felt. All of the buildings are directly next to this chord, with their entrance facing the screen if they have one. The Big Yarn Ball is still present in the center, but the rings of fabric are removed. Only the World Bobbin leading to World 1 is present, on the far right and inline with the chord. No Yoshis or Miis appear on the island, except for Yoshis whose presence is tied to levels and buildings. ThePoochy Hut is added in this version of the game.
