TheConstruction Site,[1][better source needed] also known asConstruction[2] or theStart,[3] is a location fromDonkey Kong for thearcade andDonkey Kong forGame Boy. It is a building that is being constructed. WhenDonkey Kong kidnappedPauline, he climbed up the construction site with her. WhenMario attempted to pursue him, Donkey Kong began throwingbarrels down at him.

In the originalDonkey Kong,New York City was stated to be the location of the construction site.[4] InDonkey Kong Goes Home, it is located inGamesville on the city's old zoo site. The Game Boy game indicated it was located in the vicinity ofBig-City, whileDonkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle implied it wasBig Ape City fromDonkey Kong Land (also indicated, but not explicitly stated, by the game's instruction booklet).New Donk City inSuper Mario Odyssey features many references to the originalDonkey Kong, including the construction site, and it is implied the events that took place there are a part of the city's beginnings.[5][6][7]
