Color Panels[1] are objects inSuper Mario 3D World andSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. They light up in different colors when activated, which can be done by touching them, which includes tapping the Color Panels from the touchscreen.Ground Pounds also light several Color Panels around the user at once. When every Color Panel in an area is lit, aGreen Star appears. Color Panels are found in fivelevels in the game:Really Rolling Hills,Sunshine Seaside,Bob-ombs Below,Rainbow Run, andNight Falls on Really Rolling Hills.
In Bob-ombs Below, the Color Panels, when lit, reveal an 8-bit sprite ofMario fromSuper Mario Bros. If Mario,Luigi,Peach,Toad, orRosalina gets theMega Mushroom hidden in the bonus area, they can speed up the process; Ground Pounds done while inMega form have a larger range of effect. In this level and both versions of Really Rolling Hills, when all the Color Panels are lit, a cover of theGround Theme fromSuper Mario Bros. can be heard in the background.
In Rainbow Run, the Color Panels form an 8-bit sprite ofLink from the originalThe Legend of Zelda. Upon the player lighting up all the Color Panels, the "Item Get" jingle fromThe Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time can be heard. An arrangement ofThe Legend of Zelda's theme also plays in the background afterwards.
Color Panels are objects inCaptain Toad: Treasure Tracker. They are encountered inRazzle-Dazzle Slider, whereToadette has to slide down the pinball machine structure without falling into holes to light five Color Panels and lower the gate to thePower Star. The Color Panels can still be lit with the touchscreen, which is the only way to achieve the level's challenge time.
