Cluckbooms[1] areenemies inSuper Mario Galaxy andSuper Mario Galaxy 2. They are an aggressive, explosive, and vibrantly plumed variant of thePlurp fromSuper Mario Sunshine. They are found exclusively in desertgalaxies. Compared to the hen-like Plurps, Cluckbooms more resemble roosters, fitting with their more aggressive behavior.
History[edit]
Super Mario Galaxy[edit]
Cluckbooms first appear inSuper Mario Galaxy. Like Plurps, they fly high over the ground, but every so often, they gradually lay an egg-likebomb that explodes after a few seconds. Additionally, they followMario orLuigi rather than flying in passive loops as Plurps do. They alert the player to the bomb by making a loud squawk when it drops. A highspin or aStar Bit can momentarily stun them and bring them to the ground for the player to defeat. Their spiky combs protect them fromstomps while they fly, though they can be safely stomped when stunned, as well as spun into or simply kicked.
Cluckbooms appear exclusively inDusty Dune Galaxy, in the missions "Soaring on the Desert Winds", "Sunbaked Sand Castle", and its secret mission "Bullet Bill on Your Back". A Cluckboom is found flying over a flowing river of sand and gets carried along it if it falls onto it. Another follows Mario up an extended elevator sequence, flying away at the end if it is not defeated.
Super Mario Galaxy 2[edit]
Cluckbooms return inSuper Mario Galaxy 2 and its Nintendo Switchport, acting the same as before. They are now exclusively found inSlipsand Galaxy's first mission, "Squizzard's Sandy Sinkhole". Unlike in the previous game, Cluckbooms that fall onto flowing sand are not carried along it.
