Cloud Blocks, originally referred to assmall clouds,[1] aresemisolidblocks mainly used asplatforms for bonus areas above the ground. Cloud Blocks have the general appearance ofLakitu's Clouds, though are usually slightly smaller.Cloud Lifts mostly serve as a bigger version of Cloud Blocks, but unlike Cloud Blocks, Cloud Lifts are not stationary in most games.

Super Mario series[edit]
Super Mario Bros.[edit]
Cloud Blocks first appear inSuper Mario Bros. They appear inWorld 2-1, in thebonus area accessed by hitting the secretbeanstalk halfway in thelevel. Unlike in later games, the Cloud Blocks here are solid.
Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]
InSuper Mario Bros. 3, Cloud Blocks first appear in the sky inWorld 1-1, reached byflying to the top of the level with aSuper Leaf. From this game onwards,Mario can pass through them from the bottom, though the ones inWorld 5-7 are still completely solid.
Giant versions of Cloud Blocks also appear inWorld 4. Oddly, the Cloud Blocks fromSuper Mario Bros. are reused forWorld 2-5.
Super Mario World[edit]
InSuper Mario World, Cloud Blocks first appear inYoshi's Island 1, where they are used to transport a1-Up Mushroom to Mario orLuigi.
Super Mario Maker /Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS[edit]
InSuper Mario Maker andSuper Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, Cloud Blocks have a new design for theNew Super Mario Bros. U game style, and in every game style, they wear goggles in the Underwater theme. Cloud Blocks can be destroyed byThwomps,Bowser'sground pound inSuper Mario Bros. 3-styled levels, andSkewers.
Super Mario Run[edit]
Cloud Blocks appear inSuper Mario Run. They have exactly the same appearance as theNew Super Mario Bros. U style ofSuper Mario Maker. Cloud Blocks appear in a number of courses, often as an accent placed in hard to reach areas. For instance, their first appearance is inUp and Over whileBlack Coins are present, and they are used to place a Black Coin in an very high position. However, Cloud Blocks are sometimes in other courses as standard blocks. Cloud Blocks make prominent appearances inBullet Bill Barrage andBig Spiny Blitz. Bullet Bill Barrage has most of the course consist of Cloud Blocks. As of version 3.0.4, they also appear as platforms in Remix 10'srare course.
Super Mario Maker 2[edit]
Cloud Blocks reappear inSuper Mario Maker 2 as placeable course elements under the "Terrain" category, having the same behavior of the original game. They are available in theSuper Mario 3D World game style, having a similar appearance to theCloud Cannons from the source game, and they do not wear goggles in the Underwater theme of that game style. They appear slightly squished when the players or enemies land on them in theSuper Mario 3D World style. Aside from being able to be destroyed by the same methods of the originalWii U game,Morton can also break Cloud Blocks with his Ground Pound attack, and they also can be disintegrated by digging them likesoft sand fromSuper Mario Bros. 2 bySMB2 Mario.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder[edit]
Cloud Blocks appear inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, first appearing inWelcome to the Flower Kingdom! in an area accessed using aPropeller Flower, which is found in aHidden Block.
Yoshi's Story[edit]
InYoshi's Story, Cloud Blocks are used asRail Lifts inthe stage of the same name. As such, they never appear stationary.
Super Paper Mario[edit]
InSuper Paper Mario, a line of Cloud Blocks can be found floating aboveMount Lineland, which are accessed by hitting an obscuredBrick Block to climb up aladder. Each cloud has aCoin on top and can be stood on in both 2-D and 3-D.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie[edit]
InThe Super Mario Bros. Movie, two Cloud Blocks can be seen for a brief moment floating beside severalBrick Blocks whilePrincess Peach is running through theTraining Course.
