The stomping variety ofChomps is a type ofChain Chomp that appears inYoshi's Island DS. Stomping Chomps bounce up and down in particular areas with a loud bang. Although not as large as other big Chain Chomps such asChomp Sharks andIncoming Chomps, stomping Chomps are larger than the ordinary Chain Chomps inSuper Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Some stomping Chomps can jump straight up and down, while others can bounce left and right as well.
In theIsland Museum, stomping Chomps are part of the Giant Enemy Exhibit, despite the fact that they are not among the largest enemies in the game. They are prominently featured in the levelRompin', Stompin' Chomps and later reappear inThe Cave That Never Ends.
