Cherbils are floating enemies found inSuper Paper Mario. They are one of the more common enemy species in the game, appearing in various locations such asYold Desert, theGap of Crag or theFlipside Pit of 100 Trials in room 6. They float side-to-side, and will occasionally spew a pink gas projectile at the player while in range, which can put them tosleep if it hits them. This gas cloud travels in a straight line and dissipates after ten seconds or when hitting a wall, and can be reflected back byBarry or with aBlock Block, however it will deal damage to enemies rather than putting them to sleep.

"Cherbil" is likely a portmanteau of either "cherry" or "cherub", and "gerbil".

- O'Chunks mentions Cherbils when he wants to getCount Bleck to get him to fightMario. He alludes to their bottom-like appearance by saying he will "Spank (Clobber in the British English version) 'em like naughty little Cherbils".Tippi'stattle on the Cherbils also supports this claim. Additionally, their common drop ofPeachy Peaches may be a subtle joke regarding the fruit's own bottom-like shape.
