Character coins,[1] also calledbaby coins,[2] arecoins that theYoshis can collect inYoshi's Island DS. A character coin can be collected by a Yoshi only if the baby on the Yoshi's back is the baby seen on the coin. Collecting all eight character coins in aworld (or all seven in the case ofWorld 5) unlocks aminigame in the game'sHard Mode. The 39 character coins in the game are evenly distributed asBaby Mario Coins,[3]Baby Peach Coins,[3] andBaby DK Coins.[3]
