AChange Space (Shuffle Space inMario Party 9) is a semi-commonspace present inMario Party 9 andMario Party 10. If a Captain lands on this space, the order of the players will be mixed. After this happens, the Captain who is in first after the mix will get to roll theDice Block. The order decided by the Change Space is permanent until another Captain lands on another Change Space, whereupon the order decided by the following space sets the order of the players. This space does not appear if there are only two players.
On theBoo's Horror Castle,Blooper Beach, andMagma Mine boards, when a player lands on a Change Space just before being attacked by aBoo,Sushi, or magma, respectively, the new turn order will come into effect first before the events take place and therefore, instead of the player who landed on the Change Space, the first player in the new turn order will be affected, even though the player has not technically begun their turn yet.
Change Spaces reappear inMario Party 10. Their functionality remains the same, except that the player can now stop the roulette. Additionally, unlikeMario Party 9, in Airship Central and Chaos Castle, the event will come into effect first before a new turn order is decided (such as getting attacked by Bowser's Airship or Bowser himself before a new turn order is decided). This space can also appear if there are just two players, instead of requiring at least three players.
