Chance Time Spaces (known as! Spaces in the first threeMario Party games) are among the rarest type ofspaces in theMario Party series. Players who land on it play a round ofChance Time. There are generally only one to three of them on each game board, and can change the tide of a game drastically for or against a player or team. In the first game, on boards where theStar moves after a player purchases one, a ! Space will take the space where the Star has been. In the first game as well, they count asBlue Spaces.
InMario Party 4, they are calledFortune Spaces, and players landing on it playedReversal of Fortune. In theMario Party 4 Flash game, they will prompt the player the chance to play a Game of Fortuneminigame. The player can either accept or decline the offer.
InMario Party 5, these spaces areChance Spaces, only appearing if players place aChance Capsule on aBlue orRed Space, and anyone that lands there must play Chance Roulette. InMario Party 6, they are referred to asMiracle Spaces. All of these events play differently but otherwise have the same effect as the Chance Times from before.
TheSpin Space inMario Party 9, theSteal Space fromMario Party 10, and theEvent Spaces fromSuper Mario Party resemble earlier iterations of the Chance Time Space, but both the Spin Space and the Event Spaces have different functions.
Chance Time Spaces return inMario Party Superstars, with their name and function being reverted to that of the first three games. They were also redesigned to look like two arrows looking in the opposite direction of each other, likely to avoid any confusion with the Event Spaces.
InSuper Mario Party Jamboree and itsNintendo Switch 2 port, the spaces act similarly to its appearance inSuperstars, though they have green backgrounds instead of blue.[1] During theHomestretch, if Party Rules are being played, it is possible for one of the options to allow more Chance Time Spaces to be added. Chance Time Spaces are absent from the game when Pro Rules are turned on.[2]
