Captain N & The Video Game Masters was a compilation TV show, produced for syndication, consisting of fourNintendo cartoons that were produced byDIC Entertainment. It originally aired on weekday syndication and was later seen on the USA Network.

Overview

The show was essentially reruns of previous shows, and the opening segment consisted of clips of the four shows that it showcased:The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3,Super Mario World,The Legend of Zelda, andCaptain N: The Game Master. AsCaptain N & The Video Game Masters was produced for syndication,The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! was omitted, for it was also airing separately in syndication. The show's theme music was recycled fromCaptain N: The Game Master's second season intro, with the lyrics consisting of only "The world of Captain N is here" sung four times.[1] After the introduction played, the show switched to a commercial break. After that, the proper opening to whichever show was being aired that day was shown.

All shows were time-compressed and were split into two acts, removing a commercial fade-out inCaptain N: The Game Master,The Legend of Zelda, andThe Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. Although an episode ofCaptain N: The Game Master was a full half hour by itself, the other shows would air two episodes back-to-back. When two episodes ofThe Legend of Zelda were aired, they were sped up and cut significantly to around ten minutes. Both season three ofCaptain N: The Game Master and theSuper Mario World cartoons had the beginning title card cut off.Captain N: The Game Master used only the season two and three intros with the segments of theSuper Mario franchise edited out. WhenThe Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3 aired, the order of the segments was reversed (for example, the first episode aired as "Reptiles in the Rose Garden"/"Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas," rather than "Sneaky Lying Cheating Giant Ninja Koopas"/"Reptiles in the Rose Garden" as in the original cartoon).
