Buzzies[1] areenemies inDonkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and its Nintendo Switchport. They are encountered in later levels ofJuicy Jungle, namelyJelly Jamboree andBeehive Brawl, as well as inSpinning Spines. These bees have large, stubby bodies that end with a short sting that they use to attack. They fly around slowly and in a staggered manner. When theKongs get near a Buzzy, it starts pursuing them, attempting to harm them. Some Buzzies are passive. The Kongs can defeat a Buzzy by jumping on it, using aRoll Attack, or throwing abarrel.
In Beehive Brawl, some Buzzies appear from out of their beehive houses to attack the Kongs, and arrays of larger Buzzies march over areas with wide chasms, carrying fruit slices covered withclimbing grass. These provide transport over the chasms and help the Kongs go through the level. Due to the added weight, Buzzies steadily descend, unless the Kongspound their fruit slices, which forces them to ascend.
The game features an unlockable piece of concept artwork depicting a swarm of small bee-like creatures very similar to Buzzies. The image can be accessed in the Extras menu after the player collects all fivePuzzle Pieces inBopopolis. These bees are shown among other creatures that are/would have been found inAutumn Heights.
